I've watched the video about 12 times now. Most videos nowadays are nothing but a sequence of over-edited cliches but this was well done.

I didn't realize until now that Gondry did a Smirnoff ad that I have watched dozens of times over the years. I don't know how to embed the video in this post so here's the link below.

yeah this was on a VHS of Michael Gondry music videos I had many years ago. He came up with some cool ideas and thankfully was given a budget to play with. e.g this music video was a bit too subtle for the MTV generation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbOhvzVOaJA&index=18&list=PL5F67175A34FF9DD9

I remember seeing this video on MTV back when it was new, almost certainly rather late at night. It was a bit of a mindfuck, but upon subsequent viewings I mostly just came to appreciate the incredible amount of planning that obviously went into it. Pretty sure this was directed by Michel Gondry, who has done a ton of excellent videos (seriously, if you've not done so before check out as much of his stuff as possible).

I'm not sure what he's like as a director though. I was instantly expecting Michel Gondry to be behind this.

When I read this amazing book (L'Ecume des Jours, Boris Vian) I thought, no way it could be adapted. But this is Michel "Eternal Sunshine" Gondry, so I look forward to be proven wrong.

I don't know French, so I have no idea what's going on. But it looks like a good date flick, and Michel Gondry is pretty awesome too.
