Those fake bricks are probably germ incubators even for a short term. And I wouldn't be surprised assholes would just stick all kinds of gums, mucus and phlegm all over the bricks for "giggles" ... almost EXPECTED nowadays. Yes, we can argue that onus is on the drivers to avoid pedestrians getting hurt. But it's ALWAYS the pedestrians getting hurt/killed in accidents, rarely the other way around. I wouldn't leave MY life in other peoples hands whenever I cross a road, having the right of way or not.
