Big surprise, Trump’s false announcement about his pending arrest a week ago was little more than a fund raising ploy.
He immediately began hammering supporters with demands for cash to protect their favorite (disgraced) president.
There was no evidence he was about to be arrested last Tuesday, the grand jury was/is still in session…he just said it for grift. He’s raised millions over the claim, millions he spends on gold seat belt buckles and toilet seats for his plane, not his flailing failing defense.

What no one seems to have pieced together is, his behavior over the last few years has been calculated to demonstrate a complete break from reality because he’s going to use an insanity defense to shield himself from court…and it will work.

Revelations about New York Rep. George Santos' pattern of lies and deception are putting increased scrutiny on New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, the fourth-ranking House Republican and a vocal supporter of Santos during his 2022 campaign had knowledge of his lies well before the election but chose to hide the facts from voters and donors as she campaigned with him and fund raised for him…because honesty, ethics, morals, and facts are all anti Republican concepts.

McCarthy has also now admitted knowing he was a total fraud MONTHS before the election yet he supported him, corroborated his lies, hid his criminal past, and fund raised for him knowing he was a pathological liar, fugitive, charity fraud, and liar (it deserves mention twice).

Every time the surface was scratched, the republicans quickly came out with their rubbing compound of lies and false denial and professionally buffed out the scratch themselves….and you blame Democrats for not digging through their wall of intentional lies and obfuscation fast enough, not disgraced Trump who single handedly erased the last shred of Republican’s desire for honesty, civility, legality, morality, or ethics from your party so thoroughly they already gutted and hobbled the bipartisan House ethics office blatantly to protect themselves.

It’s almost like you forgot that every congressperson charged with child trafficking is a Republican, every one charged with pedophilia a Republican, every one that knowingly covered for years of forced sexual abuse of children a Republican. Everyone trying to pass laws making it legal for adults to marry 9 year old children and have sex with them is a Republican. Every person claiming their political colleagues have wild drug fueled orgies is a Republican.

I have come to the same conclusion about longer terms and term limits, however I came to a more radical conclusion -- one term limit.

Double everything in the Constitution -- 2 becomes 4, 4 becomes 8 -- and one term only. (There is always recall if they are egregiously awful)

That means -- zero attention to fund raising. Zero attention to popularity polls. You can vote your conscience instead of party lines, when you have more information than the short attention span public.

One thing will happen, I predict.... the general public will be all -- being in power corrupted them. I hear it now in our small town, when someone gets elected to the Food Coop Board of Directors. They are all radical until they are elected, learn their responsibilities to ALL members, and tone down the rhetoric. And are then called corrupted by power.

Better that than REALLY corrupted by forces having nothing to do with doing a good job -- like public polls and getting re-elected.

If you're interested in this stuff I heartily recommend this episode, for me it was an eye-opener.
It talks about how organized the fund raising from lobbyists is, and how it is more organized by policians than by lobbyists.
And (if I recall correctly) this also explains part of Eleanor Holmes Norton's call, senior members of influential committees are expected to raise more money, and then redistribute that money among less influential policians within the party. Holmes Norton also mentions that in some part of the voice mail (not played by Cenk), that she has had criticicisms from other politicians that she was not pulling her fund raising weight.

Also -- it probably cost $15,000$50,000 to get that shot (those tables aren't cheap!).

For the fund-raising thing, they add a header to every page that includes a photo of a contributor/user/whatever and a quote by them begging for money. The layout of the page sometimes makes it look like the photo of this person is in some way related to the content of the page. Sometimes that makes for humorous juxtapositions, such as when you imagine that the editor at the top of the page is really into auto-erotic asphyxiation.

As I said I'm behind the fund raising, 100%. It's the web page layout that is a bit off, I have more often than not been jolted by the search term and then a photo just above it that was incongruous. Most of the time found them quite humorous and hence the creation of the page.
