Fake or Real ?

artician says...

You don't even have to slow it down to see the lack of a handle.

From a psychological perspective, you can tell it's fake from the way the dipshit sets up the camera. They always, ALWAYS frame up their pretty-little-face first, and stare into the lens for 5 seconds too long, just to let the audience know "this is totally an amateur video!"
.. When amateurs never fucking do that.

Speed Bump

Arg says...

I tried this out on some local speed bumps once when the company gave me a hire car for the weekend so I wasn't bothered about ruining my own suspension. It works. I got the car up to about 30mph and the suspension compressed while the chassis stayed level. It's definitely the smoothest way across them.>> ^sadicious:

An ambulance driver once told me "They are called 'speed bumps', not 'slow bumps'. Go fast over them." I tried it out with my normal-ish car and it went smoother then if I was going slow. The axle isn't elevated long enough for the shocks to push the frame up. Since the frame isn't up, it doesn't go crashing down. This only really goes bad if range of shock compression or the bottom of the frame to the ground is less then the height of the speed bump.
I'm not sure how that would apply to having 5-6 of them all in a row like that. Maybe most people in this area figured out the above technique and this is the way around it.

*edit* Oooops. I meant to reply in the thread rather than on your profile. Clicked the wrong link. *edit*

Freddie Wong - One Shot ft. Eliza Dushku

I generally didn't care for his other movies but I liked this one. The camera was kept at just the right distance from the main actor as to seem like a second person following, it really seemed enjoyable to be following him. Also there was a nice LACK of cuts, and targets were framed up well while keeping the 3rd person view. There WASN'T a whole lot of dialauge which is a GOOD thing, it is to short for some silly plot. Instead it felt like one level in a game like portal, where you have a clear cut beginning and end, and it doesn't matter whats next until you are done with this map. Also blood was kept to a minimum, the head shot looked like something out of call of duty rather then mortal combat.

I think it is time to graduate though from basic gun fight choreography to a more advanced level though. So far what he has shown looks nothing more like your beginners level in a 3rd rate FPS.

Ah, Ducatisti! Haha. I actually worked at a Ducati dealership in the mid nineties. They actually sent me to service school in Fairfield, NJ to learn to work on the 916. They're a little to fast and agile for me, not to mention a little uncompromizing for the touring I like to do. Fabulous bikes though. I work with a guy who has a basement full of them, and is building a 70's one frame up right now from an old 750ss that somebody brutalized into a chopper. He's making a nasty cafe out of it.

Do you race motard? I'll behave myself because apparently you're quite mad! I've never raced, but I'm mot putting it out of my head that I might get out there some day. I'd like to do one of the schools, like penguin I think it's called, and I king Keith Code has a school and there's that California one you always see in the back of the bike mags. That and a couple of track days.

I've had the 748S since 2000 and it was joined by the 600SS in 2005 purely to race. The club that I belong to (Ducati Sporting Club UK) started its own race series so I had to have a go as trackdays were getting too competitive. If you're interested, I blogged a load of stuff on my website at the time: http://www.horrible.demon.co.uk/bikes/racing2005.htm

I stopped racing in 2007 after getting torpedoed from behind at about 90mph and that broke me and the bike; one collarbone and a few ribs for me and the bike was trashed. I rebuilt it once the collarbone had healed but it was a year later that I went back and raced - I came 7th (out of 38) so didn't do too bad for a year out!

The Hypermotard is strictly for wheelies^H^H road riding. It's an animal! Best bike I've ever owned and always makes me smile.

I've been to the Ducati factory in Bologna five times now and ended up organising the factory trips for the club which were quite popular! It's an amazing place, really interesting to see such a small factory at work on such a well-known name. Well worth doing if you can, even if you're not that much of a Ducati fan!

Hey Antonye, thanks for all your great contributions to the *wheels channel. What are you riding these days. Street or just track?

Hi,
Thanks for the comment! I love adding some of the great racing I watch onto the Sift as it deserves a much wider audience
As for me, I'm riding both street and track still, but have not raced this year. I have 3 bikes: Ducati Hypermotard 1100S (wheelies), Ducati 748S (fast road), Ducati 600SS with 620ie engine (race). Can you spot the theme?

Swastika on Ga. Dem Scott's Sign After Town Hall Meeting

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

I'm sure the majority of liberals aren't running around spray-painting crap in an attempt to frame up conservatives. People doing stuff like that are probably rare cases of brain-addled extremists who have been prodded into repugnant action by a constant stream of hate speech. Who knows? All I know is that such people deserve to be spit out the bottom orifice of society.

But something that I consider to be JUST as reprehensible is the blatant, obvious attempt by Democrat party members to paint the protests with the same 'extremist' brush as our hypothetical misguided kooks. The kooks are just frenzied, hyped-up goofballs who need to be pitied and shunned. But the Democrat party members... Nancy Pelosi, Claire McKaskell, Arlen Spectre, Ben Cardin, Brian Baird, Steny Hoyer, and many others - right up to Barak FREAKING Obama himself have blasted the protesters in terms that are insulting, demeaning, and dismissive. These aren't citizen kooks, random bloggers, or talking heads. These are people who hold political power describing thier own consitituents as if they were the enemy.

What kind of example is that? If they want to defuse the anger, shouldn't they be honest, open, and forthcoming and willing to engage the people?

When these bozos start getting all defensive, snippy, angry, and insulting to the people who are challenging them, it doesn't make me think that these are poor, innocent Democrats that are the victims of mean old mobs of extremists...

...It makes me think that the citizens are hitting these Democrats RIGHT between the eyes with truths that the Democrats want to hide so they can pass this bill before anyone can stop it. And it also makes me think that the Democrats are a bunch of slimeball hypocrites - because they sure didn't have ANY problems with 'community activism' during the Bush administration, or during Obama's campaign. But now the they are on the other end they want to act like citizen participation is a nasty, ugly thing that needs to be suppressed. Shame on them, and shame on anyone defending them.

Enrique Iglesias' voice recorded while lip syncing

joedirt says...

It would be fun to pull audio tricks and lip sync your own bad track to frame up these "singers". Like the guitar spoofs where he dubs in really bad playing.

But I tend to believe all of these Disney made bullsh-t "artists" like Britney and Enrique are in fact talentless losers who are 99% image generated by corporations that rely on post production and voice tuners and lip syncing. (See: milli vanilli)

Why would any decent singer ever need to lip sync, even on live TV or taped TV. Just sing.

Election Night Special (Election Talk Post)

joedirt says...

Just because the media makes up some B.S. story about expectations doesn't mean anything. Look, IN was only 4-5pts for Clinton for many months.. See here: http://www.pollster.com/08-IN-Dem-Pres-Primary.php

And in NC, guess what? exactly the same thing for Obama. He did do slightly better with 14 pts compared to trends, but also many people expected 20pts or more. http://www.pollster.com/08-NC-Dem-Pres-Primary.php

So don't fall for artificial expectations that are only there for the media to frame up a story to sell.

It's not really a big win for Obama. These numbers were predicted by BOTH camps for the last few months. I can point to the Obama projections from two months ago that have exactly this. So, in reality nothing has changed. If anything Clinton couldn't ever really win from the remaining primaries, she is totally dependent upon supers. On the otherhand Obama could have won outright, but failed. If he won IN or did much better in NC, it would be over. He fell short and now has to keep up the dirty drag down cagematch brawl.

And Norman Mailer nearly killed his wife with a knife. He was a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and an attempted murderer. BUT it must have been a frame-up because OBVIOUSLY, if you win a prize, you can't be a criminal.
