You have no right to remain silent in Henrico County.

newtboy says...

I make reasonable allowances for what I will call a hero, I never made allowances for what's a legal right. I think one need not exercise one's rights in the most disruptive way possible to exorcize them. That said, if the restaurant owner in your scenario doesn't want to kick out open carry people for scaring 'families', that should be their right too, and then they're (the owner and the carrier) both slightly heroic.

In this case, if he's doing nothing illegal, the cops should go do something productive, not get violent because someone is guilty of contempt of cop, which is not a crime. They always say they're understaffed and there's too much crime to deal with, then why are 2 cops wasting so much time on someone legally not answering their questions or producing ID AND NOTHING ELSE WRONG? That seems impractical in the extreme.

There is a HUGE difference between behavior that, while allowed, is bound to scare some people and/or cause panic and behavior that simply annoys a public servant who's abusing their authority in the first place, not actually doing their job. No one can reasonably be afraid for their life of someone that won't answer their questions, nor is it a crime. No crowd has ever run in panic because a mime (or group of mimes) walked into it's midst....maybe in disgust, but not panic.

It is always appropriate, practical, socially accepted, and constructive to your life to tell any officer that you won't answer any question at all (including 'what's your name' if that's legal in your state) without written blanket immunity from the DA, notarized and codified by a judge, for any and all crimes you may have committed or may be committing...and not a word more without a good lawyer present. That's the advice both my father's and brother's high priced lawyers gave me, I'll take it.

If you're willing to make (reasonable) allowances for circumstance, well, then we're just haggling over the price, as Lord Beaverbrook is said to have said. There are all kinds of technical rights available to me that I never choose to exercise, and pretending to be a mime in front of a police officer is one of them. That's not because I'm a principled guy - quite the opposite, I just think it would always be more practical to talk to the cop, even if I'm allowed not to, so for me there aren't any good circumstances for that. I recognize that I have the blithe security of the privileged - I would show my ID to anyone who asks for it, and I realize that it wouldn't be the same for a harassed minority, or an undocumented immigrant.

Also, I think it's a very counterproductive view to see legally allowed behavior as == societally accepted or constructive behavior. That kind of thinking - that every behavior right up unto the very breaking point of the law (but not beyond that point) is 'good' (or heroic) - presupposes unrealistically good and detailed and up-to-date laws. In general I find that laws are much more broad and roughly hewn than that - just because we don't think it's principally or practically appropriate to arrest somebody for doing X, it might still never be appropriate to actually do X in reality.

Two reasons.
1. If you don't exorcize your rights, you lose them. My forefathers fought and died to procure my (and his) rights, it's unthinkably disrespectful to not avail myself of them every-single-time. In this case, an unreasonable search.
2. Complying often does not avoid escalation.

Like almost all of these situations, things would have gone a lot more smoothly if the guy had just given him the can. If complying with a quick, simple and relatively benign request can avoid escalation, why not do it?

You should learn a little respect... Officer says

When you make ridiculous claims like "he was just being a good guy cop trying to help", I see nothing wrong or argumentative in pointing out where you made your mistake in logic thinking that might be the case.

"Huge dissertations of bullshit arguing into thin air."
Well! If that's not the pot calling the kettle black! LOL!!!!

You must have replied without reading the entire post. I thought my last paragraph illustrated clearly why THIS cop was not 'being a good guy helping' as you wish to think. That does not mean it doesn't happen, or even that it's not the norm, it means it wasn't happening this time. I'm sorry if that's a difficult concept for me to properly illustrate.

It is a cop's job to find crime. They often find it where none exists. In order to protect yourself AND honor your ancestor's sacrifices, intelligent and patriotic people exorcize their rights and remain silent. Every time. My grandfather, the successful lawyer, taught me that. It's not paranoid any more than wearing your seat belt is paranoid.

Bad day?

Are you lonely? I'm just wondering because all you seem to do here lately is argue with anyone who even remotely disagrees with you and it seems sort of desperate. You're constantly on everyone's profile trying to make your point. Huge dissertations of bullshit arguing into thin air.

I understand loneliness man, been there. If randomly arguing helps you connect then ok.

But, if you think all police are out to get you, all the time, every time:

"the questioner's only motivation is to find a 'problem' he can 'solve' by charging you with a crime"

You might want to look into some paranoia issues. Sorry. There are good police out there. Most of the time in fact.

This should be the main argument for Socializing Medicine. This video should be front and center in that fight. If you care about the society if you care about humanity you would support everyone with their right to be healthy in the richest country in the world.
This is why our democracy is failing...because a majority of America wants something and it's being ignored.

Aghghg! Death Panels(tm)! Arhghhghgh! Run for your Christian(tm) lives! Satan(tm) cometh!

More seriously... I think we should introduce Socialized Exorcisms and Socialized Blood Letting instead. Far more effective. We need to bring back the 35 year lifespan. We can all get into Heaven(tm) much faster that way.

I'm a Christian who posts videos related to religious topics that I find interesting..is that a big deal? Yet for some reason I have a whole host of people who follow me around who accuse me of trolling and encourage people not to watch my videos..and I haven't done anything wrong..no one is having their arm bent to watch my videos obviously..does anyone say anything when someone posts a video supporting atheism? Nope. Is this a site that only allows one viewpoint? Talk about closed minded..

lol..funny how people come around encouraging people not to watch videos on a video site. why come around and profess your ignorance about something you just admitted you know nothing about. If you have nothing to say about the video which you didn't even watch, what are you doing here? It's almost like you have some sort of agenda..

Real Exorcism caught on tape

shinyblurry says...

A Christian is someone who follows Christ and the true church is the body of Christ. This means that all the different denominations are false divisions in the body. This doesn't mean they don't have any Christians, it just means that the church is not a human institution..the catholics for example, most of what they do is not biblical, and is in fact blasphemy. There is no such thing as a pope, or nuns, or monks or priests in the bible. Neither are there sacraments. The conception of the virgin mary and the immaculate conception are both unbiblical and blasphemous. The same with bowing to statues, the worship of Mary, and confession. The catholic church is rife with apostacy. Does this mean no catholic is saved? I wouldn't say that..I don't limit God. I would say though that if I were catholic I wouldn't be confident of my salvation.

I wasn't "indoctrinated". I grew up agnostic, without any religion. I was a strict materialist who would have fit right in with many of the sifters here. I can understand the perspective of someone who can't see a spiritual reality because that used to be my perspective. I probably would have scoffed at this video too, but it would have been from the depths of ignorance. I have direct knowledge that there is a demonic host controlled by Satan who runs this world and is bent on seperating every soul on Earth from Jesus Christ. I have dealt directly with evil spirits, spoken to them directly, and have been directly deceived by them. This girl, whatever her history is, is/was possessed..of that there is no doubt.

Science is great, but this is spiritual warfare. You may not understand it, but you live in harmony with this world system and thus passively support the objectives of the enemy. Everytime you're arguing against Christ, you are doing Satans work for him. The world itself isn't frightening..

matthew 10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If you're a jew, you should know that much.
>> ^G-bar:
First, It is stated in the video that she had had this "possession" for a long time, and her medieval parents were taking her to those voodoo sessions for quite some time. This hints that the girl could be suffering from a minor mental illness and/or autism, which the parents are either too dumb or too religious to realize. Making her do things against her will over and over again might make her go completely crazy.
Second, If catholics are not the real Christians, who is? what are you shiny? how can you justify your own belief as the correct one?
And to sum it up, you throw every possible scientific measures against evolution, and now this? come on shiny, let go of your childhood indoctrination. Use your own eyes to see the world and you will see it is not as frightening as they told u it would be.

Yeah, it's extreme how he was quoting scripture to her..no wonder she started shouting about the antichrist. Flicking her with that Holy Water..that was malicious..I wonder if it left bruises..I'm sure that twisted demonic grimace on her face was from the pain.

>> ^wormwood:
Wow, it's so awful to watch that evil old man torturing that fully restrained and helpless teenager. I feel like I'm watching a scene from "Hostel." The evil here is being done by the only people in the room in a position to make it stop--the ones not tied to their chairs. Welcome to the world of 14th century mental-health care. This procedure is as likely to help that poor girl as leaches are likely to cure cancer. The screams here are real, the straps are real, the water is real and the torture is real; the invisible "demon" is not.

Real Exorcism caught on tape

shinyblurry says...

That's what they said about Jesus too..He said:

But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "It is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons."

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.

If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?

And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.

But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

>> ^KnivesOut:
Hmm, maybe you're the demon!>> ^shinyblurry:
It's hard to say..they may or may not be saved. I believe the spirit of God dwells in all Christians but Catholics do a lot of things antithetical to the bible. Anyone calling upon the name of God has a good chance against a demon, but it could just be a denomic deception as well..making it seem like they have power over Satan when they are in fact impotent.
