Police Called To Stop Filming During Piano Livestream

newtboy says...

As much as I hate to give Morgan credit for anything, he’s on the right side here and stirring up “trouble” is the right move.
How quickly the capitulating thugs cave when exposed to the light of day. Before Elton could comment they tucked tail and reversed themselves.

I only hope some CCP thugs show up on Friday trying to intimidate and get lynched by 500 unruly soccer hooligans, then drawn and quartered on live stream. Keep your socialist government control ideals at home.

Police Called To Stop Filming During Piano Livestream

newtboy says...

The escalation continues…the piano donated by Elton John for PUBLIC USE is now cordoned off with two guards stopping anyone from playing it.
Please, people, start splashing red paint on this mall until they stop capitulating to China’s outrageous demands in England.
If they’re going to be willingly Chinese led, make them look the part (and stop shopping there until they get their shit together).

Man In The Women's Locker Room Is Now The Norm

JiggaJonson says...

Yes the manner she's complaining is there to draw attention and hopefully embarrassed the person. As I said above this, she's not complaining about something happening, she's just complaining that the person exists.

On your second question, I was taking a pee when my kid was in and let me be brutally honest here. I thought she was still infantile enough to file things like this into 'I don't remember ' but she piped up very articulately "daddy, let me see your body" and I swear on my grandfather's grave it's the only time I've felt genuinely self conscious around my kid. I shut the curtain to the tub and explained to her that there are boys and girls, etc. But...and don't get me wrong, I'm not wanting to wander around just naked all the time, however, I see my wife on occasion interact with her like that and I wish I didn't have to feel like worried that my own kid is going to see me naked. If she does it's not the end of the world, but I guess when I'm not doing anything wrong - I wish I didn't have to worry about it. Yes.

I know different cultures have more nuanced views of nudity. Not all nudity is inherently sexual.

Moreover, the woman never even made it clear that they saw anything. She never says they saw it

Double checking

No, she says a lot of variations of "I see" or "he has" those verb forms fit with the other hypotheticals that she lays out to make them sound as close to something happening as possible.

Note - she doesn't say "I saw" or "(s)he showed" or "(s)he had" the way one would if an event happened in the past. She's talking in present tense.

But let's assume someone saw something in a flash of a towel to garment transition. For sayings sake. Yeah... I don't think it's too much to ask that parents sit their kids down and explain "well, you know Elton John? That guy is WAYYYY more manly than these people ever want to be. These people hate manly things so much they have decided they want to be women." Or something like that.

Honest question for everyone really angry at the lady in the video. Is the problem her manner and attitude alone? That is to ask a second question, do you think it is unreasonable for a parent to not want their young daughter seeing naked penises?

Trump Calls Obama To Talk Inauguration Guests

PlayhousePals says...

@Fantomas
Don't forget Meatloaf! And Gary Busey could reprise his Buddy Holly. Celebrity Apprentice winners [because Trump LIKES winners] Trace Adkins and John Rich might consider it for old times sake.

I did see a news item that they were having difficulty finding performers [even LYING ... shocker ... about who they've lined up]: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/23/arts/music/no-elton-john-will-not-perform-at-the-trump-inauguration.html?_r=0

gorillaman says...

I know this is probably the most insipid possible point to raise over an interesting video, but why is everyone always telling us George Orwell's real name? Other authors don't seem to get the same treatment. In the world of pop music it's Elton John (whose original name was actually Walter Sloppycock or whatever it was), in literature it's George Orwell. Or they'll casually mention some fact about a certain Eric Blair and then pause to not so subtly observe your reaction.

It doesn't seem to me to be a very important thing to know. Like the occasional debate over who actually wrote Shakespeare's plays - probably this bloke called William Shakespeare, but maybe not, who knows - someone did it, and a jolly good job they did of it, and that person we call Shakespeare. The body of work is what counts, and good lord but Orwell had a hell of a body of work. Sometimes the bodies of actual fascists.

Elton John about 2CELLOS

Sagemind says...

Well, I'm going to respect Elton's opinion on this one. I believe he's got enough clout in songwriting and singing, playing and recording to know when he hears some talent. As someone who was there to hear Hendrix live as well as most of rock as it developed, he's got the experience, earned first hand. I know the internet is filed their with covers, but I do believe they write their own music as well.

ChaosEngine said:

Comparing them to Hendrix is pretty disingenuous.

Hendrix was not only technically innovative in terms of the way he played guitar, but he could also use those techniques to write music.

The 2Cellos guys are certainly great musicians, but so far all I've seen them do is covers. I could be wrong and they might be writing amazing original pieces, but they're famous for their covers.

Making cocaine in Colombia

Trancecoach says...

Yes, you're ignored, and I read your comment anyway.

No, in saying "use drugs," I was not "implying cannabis." I said "use drugs" because I meant "use drugs." Rather than trying to interpret or 'read into' what I'm saying, it might help if you responded to my post, and not what you post in your mind on my behalf.

And I will take you up on your 'challenge:' below is a list of ten "highly intelligent" people who have used cocaine (note: at no point did I say "encourages the use of cocaine." I said "use drugs" without becoming addicted, and being able to function), so that you can provide me with 10,000 more** whose lives and families have been destroyed by it. (**And note here, we're talking about individuals whose lives were destroyed by the use of cocaine itself, and not by the pointless drug laws that imprison people for having a mental or emotional condition that provokes "self-medication" as a form of treatment. Nor are we talking about the illegal status of cocaine which, itself, gives rise to violent cartels that function in the shadow of its legal status.)

So, while certainly many of the following list of "highly intelligent" (non-cognitively deficient) and successful "celebrities" may no longer be using cocaine, all of the following have used cocaine and are/were not addicted and function(ed) just fine:

Sigmund Freud
Thomas Edison
Oprah Winfrey
Stephen King
Tim Allen
Hunter S. Thompson
Angelina Jolie
Robert Louis Stevenson
Steven Tyler
Robert Downey, Jr.

There are others (like William Burroughs, Eric Clapton, Grover Cleveland, David Crosby, Arthur Conan Doyle, Isadora Duncan, Ulysses S Grant, Abbie Hoffman, Elton John, King George V, Larry Kudlow, Sir Paul McCartney, & Barack Obama), but I thought I'd stop at 10.

And if you post the 10,000 names of those whose lives and families were destroyed by cocaine (and not by the pointless drug laws or its illegal status) by the end of the week, I'll take your point.

mxxcon said:

"use drugs" and "use cocaine" are extremely different things. I'm sure in your statement you intentionally and covertly implied cannabis.
However, having said that, for every "highly intelligent" person that you'd show me who encourages the use of cocaine, I'll show you 1000 more that had their lifes and families destroyed by it. For every 1 "highly intelligent" person you show me that did not get addicted to cocaine, I'll show you 1000 more that did.

Alas, I'm ignored, so have a good cocaine-filled day, crackhead.

Billy Joel and Jimmy Fallon Form 2-Man Doo-Wop Group

overdude says...

Sure is nice to hear Billy Joel still sound so unmistakably like Billy Joel... unlike his counterpart Elton John, who now sounds nothing like Elton John.
Doesn't seem fair that tremendous amounts of alcohol, cocaine, and cigarettes (at least in Billy Joel's case) can affect two people so differently.

I guess getting old truly can suck sometimes.
