Calling fake. I think it’s a toy grenade and probably a coke/mentos or dry ice “bomb” underwater to make the relatively safe explosion that’s so poorly cut in at the end.

Notice he calmly holds onto the “grenade” for 3 full seconds before tossing it just feet away. No sane person would do that with a real live grenade that has a 4-5.5 second fuse and a fatality radius of 5 meters. Were it real, it easily could have exploded before hitting the water and he would be dead or severely injured. He didn’t even have a safety shield to hide behind.

A real golfball grenade sitting on the bottom like that would punch a hole in the best made pool, especially right next to the drain like it was, and the shockwave through the water would likely crack the walls.

I used to use Kodak TP-2415 for astrophotrography, and it's the most insanely fincky film I've ever used, with one exception: Fuji made FF slide film for the same purpose that were ISO 10,000. The stuff was so reactive to ANY heat that it came delivered on dry ice and you had to slam the slide into the back of the camera as absolutely fast as you could. The darkroom processing on those slides was best done by someone who dealt with nothing but Fuji -- and not just Velvia.

If you've only shot 400 - 800 35mm, MF and FF is a world you cannot imagine.

I'm pretty sure the dry ice won.

Good idea, terrible execution.
My brother had a kegger for his 16th birthday party and we heated the pool up to 105 deg, then threw 30-40 lbs of dry ice in. That was much better than this try on an infinity pool. The pool we had was an in ground pool, and the yard had a wood fence, so the fog stuck around and built up to 2-3ft deep. Lots of people went swimming while it boiled, I suppose we're lucky we didn't have any issues from too much CO2. Good times, good times.

My brother's 16th birthday party was really close to that. He heated the pool to over 100 deg and put 50lbs of dry ice in it. Lucky for him, the fog wasn't as thick as in this video and no one had to be rescued, but the entire back yard was about 2 ft thick in CO2 fog and covered with drunken teenagers rocking out to Thriller (which had just come out at the time).

Beats me, I figure if a scientist from MIT does it with dry ice it's for a reason.

I think it's a bad example, since if you put dry ice in water it skitters, splashes, and boils, but pee doesn't do that. (At least mine doesn't) But good try finding the Schlieren Optics one.

This is basically a classic bit of sugar pulling and blowing and a dry ice 'snow' all which could be made at home if you just used home made strawberry ice cream to fill it. There does seem to be a lot of sugar but it is being used for its osmotic properties also to draw out liquid from the strawbs without having to crush them - if you choose quite tart strawberries to begin with then it needent be too sweet in taste.
