Patrick Stewart Teaches Acting - The Quadruple Take

chingalera says...

I would hope that it's Sunny Ozell 35, his current fiance and soon-to-be 3rd go...She's a decent jazz crooner and seems to be infatuated with the captain enough.....

The World's Most Powerful Photographs

ulysses1904 says...

Nice video but it really needs to be re-edited and slowed down, with dissolves between the pictures. It came across more like a speed-reading test rather than a powerful presentation of some very emotional scenes.

But kudos for not seeing the word "iconic" to describe the pictures. That word came out of nowhere this past year and now I can't read a news story without something being referred to as "iconic", whether it's Trayvon Martin's hoodie, McDonald's golden arches or the President's left butt cheek.

When an actress who played one of Scarlett O'Hara's younger sisters died recently, the news story referred to her "iconic" role as the younger sister. Iconic? I don't think she had more than 3 lines in the whole freaking movie. It's just one of those irritating words that the media grabs ahold of one day and then journalistic hacks use it to death, along with quintessential, crooner, diva, etc. etc.

But I digress. Thanks for posting this.

Morgan Freeman On Black History Month

8296 says...

I don't know about you guys but I appreciate black people and culture. All of my favorite music was copped from a black man take for instance the original dub music which was called "Blue Beat" into the genius that is Lee "Scratch" Perry which was copped by every little white guy with a strat and suit to create shit-ska, or even much before that - Bukka White slapping his steel string guitar which was copped by many a mountain crooner - Can't forget the crazy zany and otherworldly Sun Ra Arkhestra of which many a neo-post-rock project wish and try to copulate; or how about the little-known noise/trance/congotronic Congolese group I rip off a lot named Konono No. 1? And I mean I didn't even begin to speak about Ethiopian music from the 60-70s (check out Ethiopiques or just try on Muhmoud Ahmed - f'n amazing).

But, outside of music even though there has been a black history month for a long ass time now kids just don't understand Dr. King! Listen to his damn speeches, oh young and flighty ones - he didn't just speak about his dreams he spoke about "RADICAL ECONOMIC RECONSTRUCTION"! As history repeats itself it is evident to remember to pay attention to your local black community; they know what is going on!

Nirvana's Teen Spirit cover - by Paul Anka?!

dannym3141 says...

Benny Goodman = Elvis = The Beatles = Led Zepplin = Michael Jackson = Public Enemy = Nirvana = Radiohead = ????.............

woooooooaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh there horsey.. what!?

fans of each of these can adjust these comments because i'm not well versed in all but a few...
Benny Goodman, no idea - no comment
Elvis - more or less a crooner with elements of rock?
Beatles - guitar pop? and occasionally experimental
Led Zep - rock, experimental
Jackson - pop with attitude?
Public Enemey - who?
Nirvana - angsty grunge rock?
Radiohead - rock followed by completely experimental mixing styles and such

i don't want to get into some really really detailed shit here, because i'm not qualified for it... but surely calling those the same is a bit like saying all cars are exactly the same?

especially when you go directly from led zep to michael jackson.... double especially when you name pop and experimental stuff in the same sentence

i think that's mental

now go ahead and say "but they all follow the same chord progression timbre resonance factor!"... fair enough, but again that's like saying "every element in the periodic table is exactly the same because they are all made up of protons, neutrons and electrons" (do not start with me about string theory or quarks plz) - they have to be made up of the same things, just like a c sharp is the same as a b flat because they're both made up of compressions of air, and the only difference is how fast the compression occurs..

now if that's what you're saying - fair enough, you're right, but you need to get out more

otherwise please don't say they sound the same.. i'm not clinging to my generation, saying one is better than the other, more unique than the other... especially because i'm a fan of pink floyd and i'm far out of their generation.. but ....... dayum
