In your example, a criminal trial with different rules, the defense could be you didn’t see them, or they dove in front of your moving car, or you were having a medical issue….or one of a thousand mitigating factors. Louisiana has completely lost their bid to ignore the voting rights act and deny minorities a second district in the state. Georgia, Alabama, and Texas are all in the same boat with illegally drawn districting that’s already been declared invalid by the court. They were hoping the stacked MAGA court would toss the voting rights act, but they didn’t. That’s 4 more Democratic representatives in the house (and 4 fewer cons) before Santos, Boebert, Gaetz, and other horrific MAGA morons get the boot.
