Ring a random Swede

newtboy says...

I think that's right. Just calling random people out of the blue probably wouldn't work anywhere.
Most of us (Americans) are decent, friendly people, but we have far more than our share of jerks too....people who's only pleasure is ruining other people's good time. They would sign up for this in droves, and just like chat roulette you would have to sift through all the dicks to find a decent participant I think.
Of course, I could just be jaded.

From the sound of it, you actually sign up to be part of it?

If that's the case, I imagine it would work well in any country.

And just for the record in my limited time in the US (a few holidays amounting to about a month) I have found Americans to be generally very friendly.

Starting to really enjoy vids like this (Steve Kardynal's chat roulette songs are similar) that just ooze sheer joy. In this shitheap of a world, it's balm for the spirit/soul/brain/whatever you want to call it.

Having never been on chat roulette - I am extremely (and suspiciously) surprised at how many beautiful ladies are on there. They seemed to all be very attractive - pretty, fit, etc. Wouldn't you expect the opposite (on average) on chat roulette?

Just asking because I'm curious.

I wondering if those guys on there laying in bed half naked had other things on their mind when they logged on?
I also wonder if they realize they can be recorded?
To further that, I wonder what they would think if they realized that the video of them laying in bed, ready to "get serious on-line" was going viral?

Know Your Meme: Standing Cat (Breaking Meme)

So ant-I have a theory. The reason why cat videos don't do that well here on the Videosift may be that those who hate everything "cat" are retarded, developmentally disabled, or otherwise full of them selves thinking that they are
A. Too intelligent (the over-rated brand of the same) to bother with such poo because they have opinions on religion and politics that they masturbate publicly with rather than simply doing the real-deal on chat roulette or...
B. Their infantile imprints which scare the holy fuck outta them because they'd like to like cats but can't help but hating what they don't understand, keep them from working on themselves.

Any ideas??

By the way, oh ye who fancy yourselves smarter than the average bear...
Intelligence in the hands of a fool is similar to a baby with a sub-machine gun. Who knows where they got it or what they are using it for but stay away from them, they might be serious.

Why bother posting vids to the video sift (Wtf Talk Post)

It's a big question you ask. It certainly isn't specific to VideoSift. Why do people post anywhere? For something like Twitter you could make the case that they're communicating with a particular audience, a group of friends or a "following". Likewise a site like Delicious has utility in organizing the links you might want to go back to.

But social sharing sites like the Sift and countless others are different beasts. From my experience I would say it's about touching other peoples' lives. If you post something that you think is great- and you get 10,000 other people to watch it too, it feels like a big deal. Like most things good on the Internet- it's the human interaction aspects that we like and are attracted to. (Chat Roulette)

You mention money- and I'm not saying that people wouldn't like it if we started giving out hundred dollar bills for reaching the top 15- but in general I think people aren't looking for this. The social sites that pay for achievements always seem cheap and nasty to me - and appealing to a very low denominator.

I would rather that a community like ours, that is built on altruism and meritocratic behavior, had a non-profit co-op kind of model wherein members could invest themselves into the ownership of the Sift. I've looked into it - but I don't have the financial chops - or even the money - to make this happen, but it's a solid idea.
