Japanese Dolphin Hunt Condemned By World

Sagemind says...

My complaint is the over fishing of the waters, not just in their areas, but in International waters as well. Everyone else has agreed to slow or stop certain types of fishing but the Japanese just walk in and scoop everything up , with a "more for us attitude."

And fishing / killing animals that were bread for food stocks is much different than killing wild animals en mass, intelligent or otherwise. Remember the Buffalo? I would be just as put off if Canadians, rounded up hundreds of Caribou into herds and outright slaughtered them as well, humanly, inhumanly or otherwise.

I believe the Japanese have not solved the "feed it's population" problem, because it relies to much on the over fishing of the oceans. They are having to travel further and further out to catch enough fish to feed their population. So, it's unfortunate, but a slowly spiraling population is not all bad in an over populated area that cannot sustain that population.

I love that they use so much from the sea, I love Japanese food. I just wish they would have a better consideration for the environment. The oceans, although filled with food, is not a viable and sustainable source for food in the long run. They can't even begin to monitor the ecological damage they are doing.

I Know That You Want To Be Canadian

eric3579 says...

Yeah I know that you wanna be Canadian, please
Even if in winter things tend to freeze
We've got the world monopoly on trees
And our country's bordered by three different seas

Yeah I know that you wanna be Canadian, please
We invented the zipper, we've got expertise
We made insulin to combat disease
Yeah I know that you wanna be Canadian, please

♫ Brits have got the monarchy
The US has the money
But I know that you wanna be Canadian

The French have got the wine and cheese
Koalas chill with the Aussies
But I know that you wanna be Canadian ♫

Et si ce n'était pas assez
On a deux langues officielles:
L'anglais et le français
Ooh la la

Yeah I know that you wanna be Canadian, please
Where else do you find mounted police
Or go to the hospital and not pay fees
Yeah I know that you wanna be Canadian, please

And when freshwater is in high demand
We've got the world's largest supply on hand
So you know that we could make a pretty good friend
But it's even better if you can be...

♫ Brits have got the monarchy
The US has the money
But I know that you wanna be Canadian

The French have got the wine and cheese
Koalas chill with the Aussies
But I know that you wanna be Canadian ♫

So you're thinking to yourself,
"How do I live in this beautiful country?"
Well we've got some steps for you to follow...

STEP 1: Lose the gun
STEP 2: Buy a canoe
STEP 3: Live multiculturally
STEP 4: You're ready, there is no more!

We got beavers, caribou and moose
We got buffalos, bears, and Canadian goose
And we're sorry about Celine Dion
But she did do that good song for James Cameron...

♫ Brits have got the monarchy
The US has the money
But I know that you wanna be Canadian

The French have got the wine and cheese
Koalas chill with the Aussies
But I know that you wanna be Canadian

The Greek chilled out with Socrates
Can't build a wall like the Chinese
But I know that you wanna be Canadian

In Kenya they have safaris
We've missed lots of other countries
But I know that you wanna be Canadian ♫ ♫

Again. Why should he offer an apology? He did nothing wrong.

He is allowed to denote $ to causes that he believes in.
He should be proud he is standing up for what he believes in.

You believe in the gay thing and are proud also in that belief. No one is bashing you for that belief.

You stated\
" They needlessly pissed off at least half their customer base." Maybe 5% not 1/2

-Proclaimed that people who don't share their stance are morally inferior.
-Declared on television that gay marriage is dangerous and destructive to the fabric of the country
" They've said that in the future they're going to stay out of situations like this which seems to indicate that they regret what they did. If they regret their actions..an apology WOULD be in order"

If I am not mistaken his statement was on a religious station so he was speaking his religious beliefs. He does not regret saying those words. He just regrets the childish hatred from the " open minded" community. You guys don't seem too open minded.

I don't know if he stated this but would be wrong to say.

I don't know of any hard evidence to support this statement Time will tell. I strongly believe that Divorce and single parenting is dangerous and destructive to the fabric of the country. I believe there are no "winners" in a divorce. I would rather see pro marriage agenda being push rather than call now for a quick divorce ad.

-Donated to antigay causes.
-Announced that they did so

bob's math isn't too good either. CEO didn't issue an apology, but they did release a statement saying that in the future they are going to stay out of hot-bed political issues.
It appears they have learned their lesson, but probably too late. Pro-gay supporters will very rarely eat there again, meanwhile the anti-gay supporters may be eating there a lot now...but they won't be able to sustain their attendance. They'll either go broke or die of a heart attack.
Net win for civil rights

Olbermann Special Comment - Libya and The 5 Second Rule

Matthu says...

My girlfriend works with troubled Inuit youths (a group filled with intense despair, but thats another story), she told me a story about why so many of the Inuits in Canada despise white people.

The story goes that awhile back, not sure when, the Canadian army came to their settlements and put down all their sled-dogs. The Canadian governments official reason was that all the dogs were rabid. But another reason some people put forth is that the government wanted to issue SIN #'s to all the Inuits, and that was very hard to do when the Inuits were very nomadic, often traveling super far, with their sleddogs, to hunt caribou. And they did issue SIN #'s shortly after.

(My gf saw pictures of the Inuits holding their dead dogs, BTW)

I'm getting to my point: After the govt massacred their dogs, they built two grocery stores and two gas stations. That's pretty sweet... But were the dogs even rabid to begin with? That's the controversy.

And so I see a lot of parallel with American Imperialism in the Middle East. The hubbub and the murmurs are about the truth behind these wars. Are we there to free repressed Libyans? Or are we there to steal their oil? Well... Maybe it's both. What's so bad about seeing an unhappy people struggle to free itself from an oppressive govt, coming to their aid, helping them to build the foundations of democracy, and then... taking a little precious oil for our troubles?

OK that's it, devils advocate out.

FUCK AMERICAN IMPERIALISM.

You're absolutely right. This disaster is the best proof yet that environmentalists were insane to not want oil rigs close to the shoreline.

I was totally voting for the Reindeer! Why didn't Santa Save him?

That, sir, appears to be a Caribou from the Porcupine herd in Alaska (Rangifer tarandus granti) judging by the landscape and trees.

Nature can sometimes be cruel, but on the bright side, at least the mother Grizzly was able to feed her 2 cubs.
