The pain... the PAIN!!!
Game Show Awkward Moment
>> ^brycewi19:
Don't laugh, Penisdump is a serious medical condition. It's no laughing matter.
I just had a penis dump and it wasn't painful at all. In fact, it was quite uplifting and I recommend it to all those with penises.

Not real. This is from a comedy sketch.
Either that, or the female presenter dyed her hair WAY dark.

Not real? This is from the Australian version of Countdown, called Letters and Numbers.

You mean to tell me 'penisdump' didn't come from a real game show?
A lot of rediculous ones actually have on countdown

I was gonna call this out as a blatant rip-off of Countdown - thanks for saving me from a red-faced moment

This might need an NSFW tag. Not that it is, but should your boss walk in at an awkward moment...
The 10 Most Common Awkward Moments on Elevators
>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:
Strangely enough, I was in a situation yesterday where I was holding travel bags, and due to the distribution of open space in the elevator, standing face away from the door was the most pragmatic option. I did feel weird for a moment, but then I felt like it was an opportunity to detach myself from my ego, like the Buddha (note: I know very little about Buddhism, so this may or may not be accurate). I embraced my break with culture norms, stood calmly and confidently, and it gave my a mild feeling of satisfaction.
I may try it again next time I'm in an elevator. Elevator Zen.
You know whats fun, go stand in the corner of the elevator with your face to the corner, like your in time out or something. People don't know how to react. Or, my dad would try to hold a very awkward conversation with his briefcase. Elevators, the greatest place for forced awkwardness!
An awkward moment from a colleague
What you didn't see at the end of that video was Ricky Gervais frantically attempting to purchase the rights for that awkward moment for use in "The Office".
Transcendent Man (Blog Entry by dag)
Interesting... I should see the movie.
I think the worst criticism that can be leveled against Kurzweil is that his timeframe might be off, but that, yes, we'll eventually be doing all these things.
In the meantime, if we can maximize our chances of living until, for example, 2070, it seems to be a reasonable speculation that even greater longevity will be possible at that point (if not earlier, as Kurzweil believes).
I remember at a Christmas family get-together telling my sister that aging will probably eventually be cured, and there was an awkward moment when it was clear that I was referring to our generation and not the older generation of family members who were in the same room
Obama Flubs Toast To Queen Elizabeth
It was indeed a cringe-worthy video. It's one of those nightmare moments in public speaking. The band kicked in early, and what are you going to do? It would have been equally awkward to just stop the toast completely. It was a really awkward moment, but Obama did about all he could with it.
The Scrollwheel
It's funny how so many jobs demand "computer-literacy" but that definition is pretty fast and loose. On the rare occasions I've had to call my ISP I just hope they appreciate how easily I can change TCP/IP settings. I like to imagine when my next call comes through they're clamouring to take it
I recall working on an internal support desk where one of the staff calling in had this ISDN line or something. Thing is "he" was a "she", going through some sort of change or whatever. The gender of the voice was really hard to pin so could lead to some awkward moments until you identified who it was. But worst of all they were an idiot anyway.
Oh and another time, someone who had LEFT called up the desk and tried to get support. Because she lived nearby she asked if I could come over and fix her computer. Bizarre. I just assumed she was a lonely nutcase.
