Cyberwalk - Virtual Reality Walking Surface

KnivesOut says...

@Shepppard: You said "I don't think that thing doesn't read" so I'm not sure where the typo is in your double-negative, but I think I disagree with you (maybe.)

It definitely knows where the walk is, how fast they're going, and whether they're approaching one of the sides. The apparatus will correct the walker back into the center by speeding up in the necessary directions. In other words, if you fall down, it would just center you and stop.

In other, other words, the speed of the platform seems relative to the user's proximity to an edge.

That's how I'd code it anyway.

Teabaggers Begin Campaign of Terror Against Democrats

NordlichReiter says...

NetRunner, "as mad as liberals got under Bush, I think I missed the part where every part of their party apparatus worked to foment violence against Republicans."

I was mad under bush. I am not a liberal in the modern egalitarian sense, I am more concerned with freedoms, and wars. Where is the Anti War movement now? The republican party is a broken construct of people who cannot think for themselves. These are the things I really care about. Health care isn't going to bankrupt the nation, yet even if it does, but wars will.

We are in agreement that the violence is stupid, being carried out by stupid people following stupid rhetoric. Evidence in this video below: http://videosift.com/video/Not-Just-Dems-Getting-Threats-Republicans-Too

California lawmakers introduce soda tax bill

rottenseed says...

>> ^rabidness:
I would vote in support of this, just as I would for taxes(which we have) on other unhealthy vices like gambling, alcohol and tobacco. The government is an extension of society and through this apparatus, society can help protect citizens from its ills. Childhood obesity is a serious problem for our country and soda is a main cause of this. What this type of tax is designed to do is make people think about regulating their intake of this type of product, while revenues of the tax are put into public-health media and projects.
Of course it erodes on the individual's freedom... so I feel ethically tarnished by supporting such an action that victimizes my liberty, however I am a citizen in a community and I feel the need to protect the wellbeing of myself AS WELL AS the others in my community.

This is plain and simple. The government wants money so they tax things and sometimes they disguise the taxation as something for our benefit. Did raising the taxes on alcohol and tobacco ever stop me? Nope. It just made me pay more. I don't drink soda all that often either so it's easy for me to say "who cares?" but this really is about the government getting it's dick-skinners in where it doesn't need to be. Some of us are fat...that's the way it is and that's the way it's gonna be.

The Atheist Experience: Why Are You Atheists Anti-Christian?

Asphyxium913 says...

Well dude I'm sure that target practice is a rather easy thing to plug into very fucking quickly but anyways.

Just want to let you know that any abnormal "targeting" may be the result of something quite unnatural. Something particularly unusual, even.

In fact, it's such a big fucking mess of a big fucking mind altering, non-stop subjection, complete removal of the physical shit in your mind that makes you do many things.

It's too complex to explain to you in such "candid" (or whatever ) detail at this point in time.

Perhaps that would enlighten you as to how I can be so impatient with explaining things.

Oh well dude. Let me just tell you something though.

You can never fucking escape this fucking reality. Everyone ought to fucking realize that this so called "experience" is just a little bit different than some apparently random sequence of fucking reality you stupid ignorant little bitch.

How can you look at this shit and think that it's normal and natural?

How can you look at this shit and think that it's normal and natural?

"...But then again, you might get "stoned to death" and/or sent to hell. You never know. Religion is crazy that way."

You better watch what you fucking say dude. I don't think there's any doctor or magical fucking apparatus from above that will fucking help you if something happens to you where your life is truly fucking ruined (unlike being "blinded") and you will truly feel the need to kill yourself even if to just be responsible (in that hypothetical where you could "stop it" and don't fucking get the wrong fucking idea about where I'm going with this shit. How about these problems will always happen, will always be inevitable, have always been part of the FUCKING PROGRAM HELLO!!!, and obviously what I was referring to LOL) and stop it from happening.

Or perhaps fail to "lock on" to any specific subject matter you might want to be thinking about.

Like how the fuck so much drama can fucking happen and how you can think that this is a natural process.

In any way shape or form.

Kiss my ass to Hell. (and back? AGAIN?!!! ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?!!! DO YOU NEED A FUCKING DOCTOR?!!?!?!?! LOL!!!!! <bleed this shit away motherfucker.>)

"Please. Then go to church this Sunday(assuming you go to church) and take a stand against what your church is supporting politically. That is, if you really are a strong believer in separation of church and state."

The way you talk makes me think that there is something very wrong with you dude.

If the shoe doesn't fit THAT FUCKING BAD, and people keep trying the SAME FUCKING THING OVER AND OVER (minus the JUST TRYING TO DO YOUR FUCKING JOB THING MOTHERFUCKER), what does that tell you about these people?

WHY THE FUCK WOULD I, THE AGNOSTIC, GO TO CHURCH (where they OBVIOUSLY have a ******POLITICAL AGENDA******* you INCOMPETENT FUCKING MORONIC FUCKING JUNIOR-HIGHSCHOOL <REALLY!!!!! I'M SO FUCKING SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!> IDIOT!) and attempt to communicate to the entire church the EVILS of having "In God We Trust" on the dollar bill?

YOU ARE A SIMPLETON FUCKING IDIOT AND SHOULDN'T EVER OPEN YOUR FUCKING MOUTH EVER AGAIN.

Your rhetoric is adorable.

It's tough trying to make a film where the unions exclude the little guy. Hell, they exclude art. The days of the unions being for the worker are a myth. They collude with Los Angeles city to make big money.

Even Leftist filmmakers find it unbearable, DFT. Stop politicizing every comment I make. Take German filmmaker Michael Haneke (Funny Games, 1997); not an anti-unionist and certainly not a right-winger. In this article in LA Weekly he passionately illuminates the difficulty of shooting in LA with the unions:

"You need five people for every job. If I want to move a pencil from here to there, then I have to tell this to my assistant, and he tells his assistant; I can’t just carry it myself. We were filming for eight and a half weeks, which wasn’t even enough time. But in Austria, we filmed the whole thing in six weeks.

“To work within this huge apparatus, you need a lot of money and a lot of time. If you’re doing a huge studio production with a $100 million budget, it’s great — you get 30 seconds of footage a day, and that’s fine. But if you want to get three minutes a day, it’s very paralyzing.”

You'd understand if you ever spent a day in your life.

I wonder if people wud be interested in her if she was a proper minger before the rape and acid attack .

Interesting, something to contemplate.
Also, I am interested in what that plastic apparatus is that she is wearing. Does any one know what that is called?
Found an article on it, the plastic mask, developed in Queen Mary's University Hospital is used to reduce the scaring caused by burns.

It's a face warmer.

Mario Savio - "You gotta put your bodies upon the gears"

silvercord says...

“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part, you can’t even passively take part, and you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop! And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!”
