balcom is a vegan but also a reseacher in animal behavior. the nutritionfacts.org site uses only peer reviewed articles on deit, health and nutrition.

btw, wanting to be eaten after you expire is quite different than murdering you in order to consume your corpse, which is what is done in the case of the 10 billion farmed animals who are killed every year in the USA alone.

Uh...yeah...OK. Let's remove all protein from your brain and see how that goes.
Another vegan propaganda site.
How about find a site that's not vegan propaganda, but an actual mainstream scientific site that publishes scientific studies that are peer reviewed, tested, and repeated...or can you not find any that support your position?

I DO want to be eaten when I die.
Check and mate.

A Summary Of Steam's Stupidest Move Yet!

Jinx says...

I find it baffling how poorly thought out and executed this was.

Skyrim? Ok, I get that it's got the largest mod scene, but if they'd done their research they'd know that a lot of Skyrim mods have complicated inter-dependencies with script extenders, assets borrowed from other mods, other mod resources such as animation behaviors or skeleton rigs, patches for compatibility, load order management, SkyUI....the list goes on.

The cynical part of me thinks that they knew their micro-transaction model wasn't really a good fit, but they just wanted to see if they could get away with it. Donations or a Patreon type of system would seem to fit modding a lot better, but I don't think Valve or Bethesda can make themselves the middlemen in that arrangement nearly as easily.
The naive part of me thinks that perhaps they just badly misjudged this...I'm not sure that level of incompetency is really better.

I'd love to see some of the more prolific modders able to make it a fulltime profession, if not just so they could hire some decent voice talent...

Is God Good?

shinyblurry says...

Animals can't sin, it isn't about right or wrong for them. The passage states the way of all flesh had been corrupted..that could mean a number of things, but it isnt expressly said what that meant for animals. I think God might correct an animals behavior since it doesn't have free choice, personally. An animal doesn't have rights, they were put here under the dominion of human beings, for our benefit.

We're all born with a sin nature, so there isn't such a thing as an innocent person, child or not. I think it is to say that the world was so bent on evil at that point that they wouldn't have a chance. As far as where the water came from, it also came from underground. Here is one underground ocean that was discovered:

http://www.livescience.com/1312-huge-ocean-discovered-earth.html

>> ^Grimm:
As silly as that statement is that all animals had become wicked...it can't be true according to the story since Noah and his crew had to collect a bunch to be saved.
You believe that all the children and all the infants were not evil but destined to be evil? Now what happened to this "freedom" that God gave them?
The reset button? Now that IS something I think an omnipotent being would be capable of. With one flip of the almighty reset button all the wicked men, women, and animals would be dead...gone...turned to dust. But this whole Noah has to build a big ass boat and collect all the species of the planet and then a rainstorm that floods the ENTIRE earth...even covering the tallest mountain? Have you even thought of how much water that is? That doesn't sound like the work of an omnipotent being. It sounds like a campfire story created by primitive men.>> ^shinyblurry:
It says all flesh, which would include animals. At that point the entire world had been overtaken by wickedness, so the children of the time were destined to grow up even worse than their parents. The animals, too, had their ways corrupted by their close contact with human beings. Basically, evil had reached a point of total saturation and God hit the reset button.
>> ^Grimm:
So you actually believe the was a point in time that EVERY living human was evil? Every man, woman, child and infant except for a single family?
Also why the need for this omnipotent being to destroy all living animals on the planet as well?

Chimp empathy and morality, without religion

SDGundamX says...

So if this is correct, you don't need religion to "invent" morality, but religion may help people stay moral. I like this guy--he's pissing in everybody's cheerios!

I'm curious if he's carrying out these experiments on healthy, well-fed monkeys. Although it would be unethical to try this, I wonder what the chimps reactions would be if they were near starving. Would they still share even if there was only enough food for one of them? Sharing when resources are abundant, to me, is not evidence of "moral behavior" but of social behavior--and we've known for years that many monkey groups engage in social behavior. I don't see anything in this video to demonstrate monkeys differentiating between some "right" or "wrong" choice.

On a side note, I think it's really iffy to draw conclusions about human behavior from animal behavior. I'm thinking back to certain Republicans, for instance, who encouraged people to emulate the "family values" of the movie "March of the Penguins" since the momma and poppa penguins work together and even sacrifice their lives for the baby penguins. They were quite embarrassed, of course, when zoologists pointed out that penguins take a new mate every single year.

Girl Gang-Raped At Homecoming Bystanders Watch No One Helps

quantumushroom says...

Despicable horrible act...committed by people, who live in a community that accepts this. There's gotta be a way to fix it.

Yeah. Napalm.

"Poverty" will be the standard excuse given for these animals' behavior, with "racism" a close second.

No matter. A society without martial spirit always falls prey to scum like this, before it falls for good.

The Young Turks - Ricky Gervais' Fat Jokes Slammed

vairetube says...

The human body can indeed aquire or be born with conditions that upset the ability to be nutrionally balanced, usually chemical...

So to say Fat itself is not a disease is correct, but... Obesity can be beyond some people's control due to conditions beyond their control occuring in the body.

I didn't know that for a long time, too. Gervais is still funny though.

Hell, I just watched an old clip of Def Jam where a comedian did a whole bit on how you don't see homosexual animal behavior... and the sift knows that's not the case... we've seen the video.

If Alcoholism is a disease, put obesity on the list.

Anti-Obama Abortion Survivor Ad

imstellar28 says...

^Human rights are not derived from animal behavior. A “right” is a moral principle defining and sanctioning a man’s freedom of action in a social context. Rights are thus a sort of "social contract" between men (or at least the same species).

To look at it any other way would be to claim a lion violates an antelopes "rights" when he eats him for food. If you did this, you would make it impossible for a lion to survive while acting morally. And to remove "choice" from morality is to negate the meaning of morality altogether.

Wow...Gorilla liked lunch so much he went back for seconds.

Lemurs Get High On Giant Millipedes

rembar says...

*science

Funny bit of animal behavior and ethology.

In fact, drug use amongst animals is not so rare, drinking alcohol amongst primates for example is pretty well documented. Evolutionary development of magic mushrooms and marijuana are linked to their effects on animals. Lol @ the voiceover though, JUNKIE LEMURS: DESTROYING AMERICA, ONE MILLIPEDE AT A TIME? WE REPORT, YOU DECIDE!

A Gay Brigadier General Asks a question

sometimes says...

to those who talk about homosexuality being unnatural, I hasten to point out some other things that are unnatural:

computers
plastic
air conditioning
clothes
books
reading
speech
marriage
toilets

Additionally, homosexuality occurs in many animal species: Big horn sheep, bonobos, lesbian rhesus macaques, penguins, American Bison, giraffes,
oh, and look: lions too!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animals_displaying_homosexual_behavior
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6066606.stm

Now the traditional counter argument to this is "we shouldn't use animal behavior as a justification for human behavior". that's fine, just as long as you pick one or the other. either use the "it's unnatural" argument, and allow the "but it's natural for these critters" argument, or drop the "natural" argument altogether, you can';t pick some "natural" behaviors and ignore others.

for those who talk about homosexuality being wrong because it can't make babies, and making babies is what sex is for:
fine, please give up oral sex, wanking, and recreational sex.

what percentage of hetrosexual behaviors lead to making babies?
if the average adult lives to 75, that's 55+ years having sex.
over the course of a lifetime, americans average out to 60 times per year.
that's 3465 times.
the average american has 2.5 kids.
that means one out of 1386 times having sex leads to making babies.
that's 0.07215% of all sex acts leading to babies.
boy, that feels statistically significant.

Jesus Loves You (conditionally)

joedirt says...

It's easy. God is like a animal behavior scientist. He's got some mice in a big maze, and he's standing there watching them with his big clipboard taking notes.

(Let's forget about reincarnation, heaven, hell, and death for simplicity)

Ok, certain mice find a piece of cheese and either eat it or not. Maybe the scientist is keeping notes and says, "Mouse #32241 did not eat the Stilton". One day the scientist is going to come and collect all the mice that did (or did not) eat cheese based on whatever experiment the scientist happens to be conducting.

Could the scientist intervene if there was a homicidal mouse biting the necks and killing all the test subjects? Probably. Would the destroy his mouse test protocol, maybe. Depends on what kind of behavioral study is going on.

And such is God and human "free will". This analogy I think is the closest I can come to JudeoChristian God relationship to humans living on Earth. Do the humans know what will and won't get you into heaven? Nope, completely arbitrary. Depends on which divinely inspired book you read, and in what century you happen to read it, and which Pope happens to be around.

Dear Religious Fundies: Homosexuality is Natural

sometimes says...

1. humans are animals.
2. pick one, and only one of the following
- a: "that behavior is wrong because it is unnatural."
- b: "we will not use animal behavior to dertermine right and wrong."
