You'll be fine. It's impossible to imagine what fatherhood will be like until you hold your son/daughter in your arms for the first time. I read a lot of books before my daughter was born, but the ones that helped the most weren't the ones that gave parenting advice, but instead the ones that explained the baby/child's development process.

My advice to an expecting father? You and your wife should enjoy your time together as much as possible right now. Go to the movies. Go out to dinner. See some concerts. Have lots and lots of sex while you still can. I was told by a friend that I wouldn't understand the meaning of "busy" until I had a child and looking back that was 100% correct. You and your wife won't have much alone-time (or any time for that matter) for the next couple of years unless you've got grandparents living nearby willing to babysit (we do, and even with that we're lucky if we get a once-a-month date night together).

That's a powerful song, particularly with the backstory. He sees a world where all the other kids have their dad to take a lead from, but he's only got what, a memory? An idea? Nothing to lead him. Nothing to show him what to do.

"Come on, tell us who does?
Everyone knows
How babies are made
But no one knows
How fathers are made
Mister Know-it-All,
It's in our blood, that's it.

Should I suck this out of my thumb or what?
Tell me where I can find the answer.
It must be at least a thousand times that
I've sucked my fingers dry."

My wife is 4 1/2 months pregnant with our first child. This song and video hit every insecurity I've got. I don't think anyone ever teaches you to be a dad, it's just in your blood. I hope I get it right...

oh fuck you @shinyblurry.
your post is pure troll.
there is no defense to "get em while they are weak".
and your sarcasm is just vulgar and disgusting.
or maybe you were intentionally insinuating that jesus wishes for an army to maim, murder and torture.
is that it shiny?
the thought of an army of god killing in the name of jesus make you sweaty and in need of a wee bit of "alone time"?
i bet you didnt serve one day in the military.
people like you never do.
too weak and cowardly to put your own life on the line.
jesus would never approve of such tactics as this, but people like you sure would.
why?
weak and cowardly.

You missed my point, entirely. HPQP had the audacity to call people using the military to spread the gospel "very disturbing", emphasizing that people should get together and stop this "outrage", as if this is what we should be concerned about regarding our soldiers. It's just another pet issue for atheists, who are actually advocating that we take away what helps soldiers endure and overcome the horrors that they are ordered to carry out on a daily basis. I think that is completely callous, wrong-headed, and in the context of the real problems with the miltary, ludicrously out of touch with reality.

An open letter to my roommate. (Blog Entry by MarineGunrock)

budzos says...

The worst roommate I ever had was the "we're brothers because we're roommates" type... he thought sharing an apartment was supposed to be some kind of symbiosis where we interoperate our lives like a married couple. I'm a very private person who needs lots of alone time, and nothign drives me crazier than someone who constantly has plans for how I'm going to spend my day. This guy would ask me for favours requiring hours of effort on a daily basis. Eventually I trained him to leave me the fuck alone, but it took all year and I think it partially drove me into a depression, fighting the urge to tell him to fuck off all year.

Oh ... well ... if VideoBomb jumped off a cliff - would you do it too?

Ant - we don't care what VideoBomb's parents let it do. We don't allow you to link because we love you and want to protect you.

Now go to your room. Your mother and I need some "alone" time.

I am in concordance, what's the deal buggytobenot? need some alone time? Also I found this clip to be pretty bland... I ALMOST down voted it, but decided that I didn't quite dislike it enough.
