You're Going To Die

poolcleaner says...

>> ^Truth:
I'm not going to die. I'm going to use scientific advances of 21st century to aid my body and rejuvenate cells, so I don't get old. After a while, I will upload my mind and make 1000 backup copies. So, yes, I'm going to live forever. Unless until then a brick falls on my head or something.

Don't forget about the clone machine. Upload the backup copies, into a million fresh bodies, arm them with weapons, take over a small country, then build a space program; Colonize Mars, clone yourself several billion more times, build a fleet of advanced spacecraft, then take over Earth. After that, you have your billions and billions of clones work on a single super mind... an overmind -- then focus your attention on neurobiological and wormhole advancements and send your mind across the universe into other galaxies.

Pretty soon you will rule the galaxy, ascend from your carbon-based bodies and become a god.

It's all pretty simple and outlined in my book.

Black Holes, Neutron Stars, White Dwarfs, Space and Time

The first scene roughly plays out like this:
"As the candy hearts poured into the fiery quasar a wondrous thing happened, why not? They vaporised into a mystical love radiation that spread across the universe destroying many many planets, including two gangster planets and a cowboy world. But one planet was at exactly the right distance to see the romantic rays, but not be destroyed by them. Earth!

So all over the world couples stood together in joy. And me, Zoidberg! And no one could have been happier unless it would have been Valentines Day. What? It was? Hooray!"

New Swirled Order - Crop Circle Doc (2009)

Jinx says...

Oh my gosh what a terrible documentary.

The bit where the "aliens" cropped a picture of themselves into a field along with some reply to information we sent out to space made me laugh. COME ON. Aliens travel billions of miles across the Universe and pick up our radiowaves. So they pop down and instead of, you know, replying with the same radiowaves, they use Microwaves and Electromagnets and shiz to knock down patterns in our crops before disappearing off into the night sky. Yep, definitely sounds plausible, but hey, maybe thats how how they communicate with each other on Xen, how the fuck should I know.

I think there was one rational mind in the whole thing: the journalist towards the end. It could have been an interesting documentary about REAL evidence for cropcircle phenomena, if indeed any exists at all, instead they trotted out these people with ridiculous claims and beliefs which overshadowed any real evidence there might be. If there isn't any evidence? Well, find some evidence for the man-made theory and give the documentary a different spin. Documenataries full of claims and without any fact are just awful.

Across The Universe - I Want You (She's So Heavy)

Trancecoach says...

I enjoyed the performance of Across the Universe in the film. I thought it was rather moving. The rest of it was rather odd. And if it wasn't for the fact that it was directed by a fellow alum of my college, I might not have seen it. But I'm glad I did.

BTW, this song on the album, really creates a state of mind.

David Archuleta's Rendition of John Lennon's Imagine

oxdottir says...

I wanted to like it, Lucky. Really I did. I hate American Idol, but there are people who came into the American Scene via American Idol who I enjoy, Like Jennifer Hudson, but this overblown rendition of a sweet little song just misses the point and it is exactly the reason I thought I *didn't* want to see "Across the Universe" until Videosift showed me that there were some powerful versions of those songs. This sort of Beatle interpretation makes me cringe. (Imagine me warbling that last sentence will full tremelo and some liberal interpretation of the notes in a major scale.)

19 reasons you shouldn’t live your life based on the Bible (Religion Talk Post)

Farhad2000 says...

If God created the universe, as a enlightened being am sure he seeded life on many different planets across many different solar systems and different Universes, sure that the chaotic system of order he created would lead to beings that are intelligent and question their own place and existence on this plain. For time is meaningless for him as a concept, a billion years passing in a heart beat, he waited for one of his seeds to evolve to give him company, to act as a mirror to what he is.

I mean honestly, we so delude ourselves that we are in some way special. We are not. Life is capable of emerging on countless planetary systems across the Universe. We refuse to believe it is possible because we cannot fathom the millions and billions of years that all of existence has endured and how we, our whole documented existence is but a fraction of a fraction of that time.

And even then somehow we believe we can connect to a being that has created the universe as vast as the one we occupy on our small planet, its not like a human being communicating to a termite, its like a sun communicating with a cell based life form.

Yet we are so bold, so arrogant to assume that it is we who are the focus of it all.
