How Turkish protesters deal with teargas

Microsoft Makes Fun of Apple

This is all a bit silly. The only way to get proper work done is to use a PC. With a full sized keyboard and mouse.

I go into one client site where she's got this laptop with an awful keyboard that's laid out in a weird way. So i'm constantly looking to see where the arrow keys, page down/up etc. Makes me want to hook up an external keyboard.

Tablets are wonderful toys. Nice but at best limited for work. A smartphone is much better because it's with me all the time and I can deal with emails and do basic research and er, make phone calls.

I don't know what Surface is - it's a confused proposition. [edit] And is it running RT or is it full Windows? Given the price I'm assuming it's the useless version.

That article nailed it.

Tablets aren't about getting classic "office work" done. For powerpoint, spreadsheets and documents, you're always better off with a laptop. (Which is what the surface really is - it's more laptop than tablet)

The really clever "work" being done with tablets is in enabling people to do things they never could have done with a typical computer or laptop...

There's a very, VERY vocal minority who is going to buy the Microsoft tablets. Which is fine... But I'll keep my iPad, thanks.

To be fair, the same MP (Minister of Customs, no less) was worrying aloud last week about 3D printers and people printing off "sheets of ecstasy tablets".

Still, good on him for this speech.

BTW, in case anyone not familiar with NZ watching this thinks this guys is some kind of left-wing liberal pinko, this guy is in the National Party, the reigning centre right party.

NZ, motherfuckers! Where the prime minister is agnostic and even the conservatives talk sense.
That's how we roll, bitches.

looks like a store we have in town called "Fred's" it's like a miniature Walmart/Kmart/Target all in 1 the size of a drug store. Groceries, Electronics, they even sell Android tablets here cheap noname android tablets that are sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow but still. All within 3 aisles of each other.

Fred's rocks when it's late night and you have the munchies, want some blank dvd+r's to burn, printer ink, tv dinners, and socks

How do you deal with drunk women passed out on the couch?

I would have a puke bucket near by... you know, no point being a gentlemen who clean up preventable mess.

Also, what' the point of having anything hot in the cup? It's gunna be cold when she wakes up. I'd say a Berocca tablet and a glass of water would be much more helpful for the hangovers.

World's first ever tablet with vanishing liquid keyboard

Stormsinger says...

Personally, I'd love to have this (although I still want a tablet bigger than 7 inches). Touch typing without tactile feedback is a bitch...

That said, I can't count how many of these "we'll be in production in a year or so" items have turned out to be vaporware. I'll wait to get excited until I can actually buy one at a reasonable price.

Personally I'm very happy with Swiftkey on my tablet and phone and would bet on that input being faster and more efficient than trying to emulate one in this way.
But it could be very useful in situations where the device is mounted somewhere and perhaps public terminals.

Video Game High School Season 2 on Kickstarter (Sift Talk Post)

Deano says...

It's interesting that the controller is not really "disruptive". No love for us lefties as usual.

Using the tablets/phones out there as controllers makes a lot of sense.

But really that controller needs a bit of work.

These Android consoles will do well based on their cost. Sony and Microsoft have only sold about 70m units each I believe. There's scope to sell to far more people in a different part of the market.

That said I'm playing Far Cry 3 at the moment and a magnificent experience like that might not be seen too often on these new platforms.

Looks good! In the vein of Kickstarter and gaming. Anyone backing GameStick? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/872297630/gamestick-the-most-portable-tv-games-console-ever

Regaurding Mobile access to VideoSift (Sift Talk Post)

Also I should mention that my next page/prev page is there on my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S3), but not the tablet. I'm assuming that has to do with what dag mentioned about having a desktop, phone and tablet view.

The extra space at the end of the page happens on both the phone and tablet though.

I agree with what @Sagemind says to just to allow a "full site" toggle. This option exists in When VS was still in version 4, I just used that when viewing from my phone or tablet, as I did not prefer the mobile version.

Also a glaring bug I mentioned earlier in the big thread which I guess got lost in all the other conversations...

When I view VS from my Nexus 7, there are no options to advance to the next or previous page.

I primarily do my web surfing on my tablet or phone now. Since the upgrade, I can't use them to view VS reliably.
