Bored in traffic

newtboy says...

Sad to say this guy has given me Action Movie Kid vibes.
He was good at first, but there are just way way too many uninspired attempts to keep the first viral popularity going. After the 12th lackluster sequel to the first great movie, I want to stop watching the series…same goes for internet skits. More isn’t always better.
Stop constantly chasing that popularity dragon and it might stop running away.

Fallout - Official Trailer

cloudballoon says...

LOL, true. I meant one of my favorite game series. I bought Fallout 3, but I haven't played it past the tutorial (the 3D weren't my thing), and I didn't get anything else that came after FO3. So I couldn't just just came the whole series a favorite so I just removed the word "series". Lazy me.

Gonna make a guess…

…now that it’s public knowledge that the lying fake “whistleblower” that is the main (and only first hand) witness for Republicans, “the most corroborating evidence we have” -Jim Jordan, investigating the Bidens, their “highly credible source” is in fact by his own admission an active Russian agent who has been spreading the Russian intelligence agency’s propaganda specifically designed to hurt and divide America, (and remember all the other witnesses based their testimony on what he claimed, not one had knowledge of the facts beyond what this Russian agent reported without evidence) you are still not prepared to admit the entire series of baseless accusations is a political farce being put on by complicit Republicans to interfere in the election.

Yes, he has admitted he is a Russian intelligence agent. Yes, he admitted he met with other Russian intelligence agents about this topic. Yes, he admitted those agents provided the lies he told about the Bidens which the MAGA representatives repeated constantly, all of which he now admits were Russian intelligence agency lies.

Yes, he admitted this to the FBI last week.

Yes, there is evidence the Republicans knew all this before starting the impeachment investigation but hoped it wouldn’t come out. There is no longer any question that they are also Russian agents, it has yet to be proven if it’s intentional or by gullible incompetence, but that should be investigated and prosecuted, don’t you think? The American people need to know if Russia is paying American politicians to work in favor of Russia and against American interests…RIGHT?

Even your new favorite news outlet CNN admits it! 😂

97% buddy. 97%.

What percentage of the 50% who didn’t vote for Trump say they would never vote for Trump? 50%? 75%. It’s up there, look at exit polls.
What percentage of independents want Trump? 5%? 10%? Not over 25%, and he needs 75% of them.

Scavengers Reign | Official Teaser | HBO Max

newtboy says...

I’ve been watching the series this week….it’s just as weird as it looks. Nicely alien biology throughout.
Artwork is a bit Möbius/Heavy Metal, a bit Katsuhiro Otomo/Akira.
It’s admittedly a bit simplistic with the story.
I recommend it for sci-fi animation fans.

Palestinian UN Ambassador At UN

bcglorf says...

Tragically it's all more complicated than anyone can really state, right? I mean, if you had a 30 book(10k pages a book) series solely on the conditions in the region of Palestine between 1930 and today you'd still have so much material to cut, you could limit all 30 books to only 1 sides POV.

The closest I see to shortcutting things, is trying view what is likely to happen in the future, and from that maybe what one might try and do.

The trouble being there's so little one can do. The reality is that Israeli military strength compared to Palestine is completely and entirely one sided, and thus Israel can and will do whatever it wishes to militarily. It's all their choice, period. In fairness to Israel, you have to note that Hamas as stated in their own charter, given that same power would've already cleansed the entirety of Israel and have created their own single state 'final' solution.

It's also not actually about Palestine vs. Israel, which should be obvious given the fact of Israel's military dominance. Israel IS really facing existentially threats of it's own, just not directly from Palestine, and instead from ALL of it's neighbours. That state of constantly requiring Israel to be capable of winning an existential war since it's inception has kept things in a perpetual state of near-war, and more often proxy-war with the Palestiniances as the pawns of alternately Iran, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and others depending which time and region we choose to look at.

Predictively, that gives us that Isreal can not, under any circumstances, accept conditions to exist where any party(in particular Iran as the main backer) views the "Al Aqsa Flood operation" as a success. That means Israel will do whatever they deem necessary to ensure that happens and Iran in particular views that operation as a mistake. Nothing the UN or any of the rest of us say or do can change that.

A reasoned and relatively factual position. Congratulations, but….
In my and many expert’s opinions the deadly indiscriminate pressure is exactly what pushes desperate and grieving innocent civilian Palestinians into Hamas’s arms. You would create two terrorists for every one caught with the inhumane treatment of the civilian population…and commit a serious war crime in the process.

Israel should abandon all expansionist settlements from the last 30 years and free the Palestinian citizens from the oppressive genocidal apartheid they’ve forced on the population for decades. That would end the conflict tomorrow, instead Israel has telegraphed its intent to take over Gaza militarily and occupy it again…and America stands by their side, but not all Americans.

If America had spent 10% of what we spend supplying Israel with weapons they use on civilians instead on building infrastructure, schools, hospitals, roads in Gaza, the Palestinians would not rightly see us as racist enemies, and might have the resources and inclination to oust Hamas. But we don’t.

Palestine gets no aid. You can’t withhold something that never existed. The reason Hamas gets any support is they do supply Gaza with food and medicine while Israel and America just embargo entire populations because a terrorist group lives in the country. Think if the world did the same, bombing cities flat and starving America because the Boogaloo Boys live in America.

Hamas is not Palestine, they’re the warlord gang that took over from the intentionally weakened Palestinian parliament and the only group supporting Palestinian civilians (while also using them as shields and cannon fodder).

Hamas fucked around, but Israel is making innocent Palestinian civilians “find out”. That’s a serious war crime that should put every Israeli soldier in prison, and get Netanyahu executed.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | Musical Episode Preview

No.
Absofuckinglutely not.
I considered checking this series out, now I’m glad I didn’t and I never will.
Star Trek is a drama, not a musical comedy. They’re raping my friend.
Way to jump the space shark.
Deserves a * terrible but there are no more assignments available

LA Deputy Gangs Investigated

750th Episode Opening Credits | Couch Gag | The Simpsons

newtboy jokingly says...

Or they could have left out Hans Moleman because something bad happened to him….like it always does.

I think it would have been hilarious to sneak Akbar and Jeff, or Bongo in there somewhere.
(I’ve been a Groening fan since the “Life In Hell” series)

I haven't gone through looking, but it would be great if they left out Grimey, just to annoy his fictional corpse.

edit: aaaw, here's there beside Mindy 25 seconds in. Could they have left out Gill so he doesn't get appearance fees?

What attracted Sigourney Weaver to the character of Ripley

newtboy says...

Absolutely the animated series was far superior, and the movie somewhat bland…but the character was still a bad ass action heroine.
Wasn’t it on MTV’s liquid tv first? I remember having to stay up until 1am or later to watch it back before DVRs, even before most people had VCRs.

Edit: not that I disagree about Furiosa.

cloudballoon said:

Furiosa got the advantage because I'd rank Mad Max Fury Road much higher than Æon Flux The Movie. Even though I like Æon more than most critics, that movie's not distinct (dystopian?) enough.

But I'm biased as I saw the original animated series first and it was objectively far superior - very arthouse experimental in its day for an American production. Æon is the movie is just the stock ass-kicking comic heroine in the DC/Marvel vein. Æon in the animated series & the latter comics is something... far more interesting.

PopCorners Breaking Bad Super Bowl Commercial--Breaking Good

Worth a chuckle (for the nostalgia of a great series). A little late to the game though. I mean, even Better Call Saul ended. Getting Saul to hustle PopCorners like he did burner phones is more timely than this ad script? Probably more creatively challenging than this though.

Undaming The Klamath : An Arial Perspective

Due to begin this summer with Copco lake, and completed by 2024 with Iron Gate Dam removal as the last in the series.
Time will tell…it’s been scheduled for removal before only to be delayed for years.
