If you raise one they're cute as hell till they get too bitey. (a lactating domestic cat makes a good surrogate mother and cute overlord is watching kittens playing with opossum step-brother)-BEWARE: They can fuck you up with those chompers a theirs, it's their only defense besides pretending to be dead! Release it into the wild as soon as it's old enough to draw blood!!....Not so cute anymore when the little fucker clamps-down in that stretchy-space between your thumb and index finger and won't pry loose!!

My cat, "Goat", once caught a possum nearly twice his size on the other side of the fence by grabbing his tail. When the arm came under to swat at him, he grabbed that, too. By the time I got to him, Goat had both front paws dug into the opossum's forearm, back paw pinning down a rear leg (also from under the fence), and a tail in his mouth, pulling with all his strength to pull that beast to his side.

When I finally was able to pull him off, the opossum was wedged tightly under the boards to the concrete and couldn't get out. I had to get a shovel to pry the boards up so her could escape. And he just lumbered off without much of a hurry.

If her estate cares anything about clearing up the tarnished name of an incredible talent they should be fine with it ~ If not, YouTube sends a shot across the bow and there's no harm or foul, just a friendly reminder to, "Don't Doo Dat!" (Probably some fucking self-hating Nazi or Jew, anyhow....)

One of these days, that cat is going to run into a dog that hasn't been bred not to hurt anything, like a coyote or a poorly trained dog, and the poor thing will be torn in half. That cat is lucky the dog is so nice.


My girlfriend's family raises Jack Russells that will devour cats. She owned the most vicious pup of a litter (dead now) that would kill opossums which wandered into her backyard. If it made multiple kills during the night, it would line them up in a row right in front of the backdoor for her displeasure.

Supposedly (second hand story) her grandmother owned a puppy from the same litter and they found 5 years worth of dead opossums and local cats hidden throughout her unkempt backyard.

Additional useless information: Freakin Jack Russells can jump over 5 foot walls and the extra foot of bricks they added on top to stop them from escaping doesn't prevent them from leaping and snacking on any small animal that walks upon their wall. Outdoor cat owners in socal beware.
