Judge Locks Up Parkland Shooter for Life, Throws Away Key

bcglorf says...

Careful @newtboy, you're sounding a bit like a conservative on this one from the Canadian POV.

A terrorist that shot 12 people in a mosque, killing 6 was sentenced under new Conservative law that allowed sentences like murder to be applied consecutively. More details in the link below, but our liberal dominated Supreme Court ruled the 40 years without a parole chance was "cruel and unusual".

So our gov. will be giving them a chance at parole in 2039.

Good job….except that means paying to house him for life.
Death would be kinder and cheaper….especially if it’s at his own hands.

Odd posting from @bobknight33, since MAGA still insists this was a false flag operation, no one died, no one injured, and only crisis actors who were trotted out as a reason to take yer guns.
Marge Green went so far as to chase some of the surviving children, screaming and spitting at them in her rage over their existence and their nerve to want stronger gun regulations after nearly being murdered.

I’m glad at least a few photons of sunlight might finally be seeping in, but I’m not hopeful that the darkness won’t drive them out.

Took me a few nights to get through, but I have been watching this Stromae concert from Montreal, from 2015. Looks like it would've been a pretty good show to go to actually (particularly for French speakers):

This is a yt video *blocked for you.
"The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

Whats always weird is that when I use my vpn through a Vancouver IP, A particular group of yt channels are blocked(often American tv shows), but if I use a Montreal or Toronto IP they work fine. Wonder what that is all about?

Roid rage guy's picture should go up in every gym in Montreal, banning him from ANY gym open to the public for life. That could have been career ending for Charles.

I started driving in Montreal for 12 years, and moved to Toronto for another 13 years. These 2 cities always had a bit of a rivalry. Montreal drivers calling Toronto drivers stupid idiots and Toronto's calling Montreal's crazy speed demons. These stereotypes are both accurate. Comparatively I'd feel safer with Montreal's crazy speed demons all around me any day -- they speed pass you of the left, they signal, they don't hog the left lane most of the time. Overall more skillful. Things like the above video happen in Montreal once in a blue moon. Toronto, way too often.

I often road tripped around the Buffalo, NY - Washington DC corridors and I'd say even they are better drivers (in terms of skillfulness & situational awareness) than Torontonians...

When I was 10 I got to meet him very briefly at the Dorval Airport in Montreal. Picture an airport hallway, they are very big to accommodate all the people. Now imagine a man taking up the better part of said hallway. It was awe-inspiring to have shook his hand. Also George the Animal Steel was there and he stuck out his green tongue at my sister and I.

I've had a pretty good response to my butchering of french in Montreal, The shop keeper caught on right away and let me struggle a bit then saved me by speaking english. I think rural areas are less forgiving.

I've found that Mexicans (especially outside of major tourist areas, but even there) LOVE it if visitors attempt to speak Spanish with them, even just a few words.

Thailand is pretty similar. I've lived here for ~10 years and can speak Thai fairly well. So, many locals know me and aren't surprised when I speak Thai with them, but if I travel I get a lot of smiles just like this video.

I guess French people are stereotypically less patient/pleased to deal with visitors trying to use the local language, but I don't know if that's true. Never been there, unless Quebec counts (where it didn't seem true).
