An argument for Universal Healthcare (Election Talk Post)
There's another bulletproof reason to socialize healthcare:
No one should have a strong economic incentive to CAUSE disease.
That's just asking for trouble. Corporation-caused disease is the rational next step in the strategy of manufacturing demand for pharmaceuticals. There are many ways to do it legally, such as lobbying congress to serve bacon in school lunch programs.
There are PLENTY of specialists in Canada, France, and Britain, working for their governments to provide healthcare to all.
Charging a flat high price for a treatment may be fine for the rich, but it literally kills the poor. Charging different people different amounts of money for a treatment is the way to go. This is more simply and effectively implemented by progressive income taxes than by a plethora of complicated PR-oriented philanthropic initiatives by pharmaceutical companies.
