NATO supplied ammunition facility attacked

newtboy says...

Odd how you only post videos that are pro Russia since you claim to not be choosing sides….as if anyone not Russian hasn’t chosen the side of freedom and democracy over attempted expansionist genocide.

Everything you post about the war is pure Russian propaganda, every single thing you post tries to make the case that Russia has a legitimate reason for the war and is winning the war and will crush Ukraine soon….hasn’t changed since day one. It’s never been true, which has been obvious since week 1. Your claims to not be taking sides are as transparent as your claims to not be racist.

Like mentioned before, if you feel like going toe to toe on videos of military action, there’s 4 advanced aircraft filmed shot down over Russia, two oil refineries (one in Crimea, one in Russia), a command depot, and dozens of videos the Russian retreat from Bakhmut in just the last few days.
I could provide new videos daily of Russian tank columns being destroyed, trenches bombed, hideouts shelled, territory recaptured, and lately Russia burning…but why? The only one who doesn’t know what’s happening there is you, and you just ignore any evidence you don’t like.
Edit: My bad, it’s now 5 advanced aircraft over Russia….3 Mi-8 helicopters, 1 su 34 and one su 35. All crew died.

Russia hit an ammo depot, I’m assuming they got lucky with a missile/drone.
Ok. Cheer if you like.

Ukraine has hit so many ammo dumps Russians are out of ammunition on many fronts, Ukraine has more ammo than ever in their ramp up for the counter offensive. More, better weapons and ammo than ever, and more trained troops, while Russia is using WW2 weapons and is losing all their advanced equipment rapidly.

Again, you only post pro Russia videos by choice, there’s more than enough pro Ukraine videos to post, especially since Ukraine is crushing it at rates of 5-1 casualties and retaking territory fast before the awaited counter offensive, how do you convince yourself you aren’t on Russia’s side? You have to try really hard to even find propaganda indicating Russia isn’t failing miserably at every turn.

Looks to me like Tele Truth, where you got this pro Russia propaganda, is nothing but Russian propaganda, every video there is pro Russia propaganda from claimed successful military conflicts to Putin’s speeches in their entirety…couldn’t be more pro Russian. Is that who told you Russia held 85% of Bakhmut and wasn’t going to stop? 😂

BTW, 17 of 21 drones were shot down. The other 4 managed to injure 30, sending 2 to the hospital. No deaths. Edit: A bit odd if that was an active ammo dump don’t you think?

Police fire (paintball?) at residents on their front porch

newtboy says...

Shoot back with black tallons. Where are all Trump's "ready to go" 2A people? Certainly they would stand against this tyrannical thuggery....unless they're really all babies cowering behind and threatening with their guns but only when only they have guns to threaten with. No. Couldn't be.

Fucking violent thugs shooting people peacefully sitting on their porch.
They have zero authority to make you be INSIDE, only on your property.
This is not policing.

Shoot those thugs in the head like Trump said to. Presidential order through Twitter, shoot the THUGS. Burn their hideouts too...police stations. They aren't policing, so they don't deserve them.

I won't piss on a cop if they're on fire, or use my breaks if they're in front of my moving vehicle. By far, they're the most violent gang in America.

@bobknight33, does giving someone a nice ride on the clock excuse this? Or illegally arresting the press? Or repeatedly unannounced, shooting people dead in their homes, or repeatedly suffocating people in public using banned control methods, and how about lying about all of it until civilian video goes public?
Edit: You patriots aren't doing a thing to stop this tyrannical clampdown, gangs of THUGS shooting peaceful citizens on their porch backed by tanks, I guess all that "our guns protect us from a tyrannical government takeover" is definitely bullshit, we're sending those thugs to your house next to collect your guns, you don't need them anymore since you're all snowflakes.

Obama Signs NDAA, but with Signing Statement -- TYT

NetRunner says...

@marbles, the most powerful psychological weapon being deployed on us right now is the simplistic idea that you can classify an entire category as universally "bad" or "good".

Signing statements are not all bad, nor are they all good.

Similarly, "targeted killing" is a pretty icky concept. But Obama's trying to emphasize that as an alternative to the full scale war the Bushites preferred. I'm not sure where you come down on war these days, but IMO I'd have preferred just drone strikes on Al Qaeda's hideouts to the full scale invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.

I wish both would stop, and moreover I wish that military force was never necessary in the first place, but since this is still the real world, I'm willing to settle for our military reaction to national security threats returning to being somewhat proportional to the actual threat being presented.

Where we fit this into our concepts of rights and laws is an important question, but the present law passed by our duly-elected representatives in 2001 in the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force is what codified this as being a "war" where the President could kill people whenever the fuck he felt like it, in accordance with the Constitution's definition of war.

Keeping people in prison is a similar matter. Technically, the people in Gitmo are "prisoners of war" and not really charged with any sort of crime, beyond being combatants for the other side in this "war".

Now, to your specific comments about "section 1031" -- that section (in the original Senate draft of the bill) is titled "DEFINITION OF INDIVIDUAL DETAINED AT GUANTANAMO". Originally it specifically excluded U.S. Citizens from being legally classified a detainee at Guantanamo.

Now, IANAL, but I looked at the rest of the bill for references to "individuals detained at Guantanamo", and it doesn't say anything about how people become detainees at Gitmo, just a long list of restrictions on the President's ability to release those detainees (like, you can't turn them over to non-military personnel, you can't move them onto U.S. soil, you can't let them go to their country of origin, and there's a list of conditions countries must meet before they can receive custody of them).

But the God's honest truth is that ever since Bush insisted on this being legally defined as a war, it hasn't mattered what the fucking laws say, because in a war there isn't any real rule of law. There's the Geneva conventions, but that's international law, and seriously, which country out there is gonna try to enforce those against us?

I don't think Obama likes any of this. It's another fucking mess the Bush administration made, and Congress is definitely not helping him out in trying to fix things. Moreover, Congress is responsible for passing the AUMF, and allowing something like Gitmo to exist (and now essentially refusing to give Obama any legal avenue to close it down, either), and now apparently they want to make sure to enshrine in law the legality of keeping something like Gitmo in operation indefinitely.

Nothing about what Obama's done makes me think he's changed his mind about this all being awful. But I think he's trying to do the best he can given that there seems to be no appetite in Congress for repealing the AUMF, or even allowing the detainees at Gitmo trials in Federal court.

As with many things, I think Obama could and should be making a big principled stand on the issue, but as I've come to accept, Obama just doesn't do that kind of thing. I think that's a pretty big flaw, and ultimately it's the only reason why he's not gonna cake-walk to re-election, but I don't think that's the same thing as actively supporting the things Congress is foisting on him.

Crowd Celebrates bin Laden's Death in front of White House

campionidelmondo says...

@direpickle

If the headline was "Al-Qaeda surrenders" then you'd have some valid points, but that's not the headline, is it? And yes, civilians died during the attack on Bin Laden's hideout. Besides, the civilian bodycount of the US government over the last decade alone makes Osama look like a choir boy.

I love how disgusted the head henchman is at the end.

Armed Gang of Kids Steal Ice Cream

Crosswords says...

Maybe it was the heavy winter clothes and/or the camera but they all looked a bit rotund. I can just see them back at their hideout heating up scoops full of icecream with a cigarette lighter, then using a syringe to inject the melted remains straight into their veins. 'Hells yeah! That's some straight out LDL muthafucka'

what a wonder
it is to see you
what a wonder
it is to feel you

I found your hideout
in the rubble
where you can cry out
when you're in trouble

now I want to be
in your hide and seek
now I want to make children

do I scare you
or make you frightened
don't you dare to move
the rope's will tighten

is it over
does it hurt you
all I wanted was
to divert you

now I want to be
in your hide and seek
now I want to make
love to, love to, love to you

you're the glacier
I'm the bonfire
you're the treasure
that I desire

you're the ruby
over diamonds
shy and moody
you're a wonder

An Anti-Libertarian (& Noam Chomsky) Critique

Yogi says...

I'd like to point out that Libertarianism in America is much different than Classic Libertarianism in Europe which is closer to Anarchism, which is also what Noam Chomsky supports.

EDIT: Furthermore I've read a LOT of Chomsky, he had a clever way of explaining corporate tyranny. First of all a Corporation is top down format, completely undemocratic. Secondly we don't live in a Free Market society, but one of the most protectionist in the world with subsidies for big corporations constantly, basically we live in a Corporate Welfare state. Also corporations doing advocate "Choice" they pigeonhole you into specific choices. Take LA, if I want to get around in LA a fairly large area I have a choice, get a car. It's the only realistic choice...and although I have hundreds of different cars to choose from I can't choose say, the old public transportation trolley system. Because it was bought up by the oil companies and dismantled. They now count on me to buy a car (hopefully a big one) so I can buy tons of their gas.

As to the allegations of Chomsky in a tax hideout and such. I read the article and it seems very attack oriented, not even allowing him to speak for himself but instead breaking down what I'm sure was a lengthy response and filtering it for the reader to achieve the desired effect.

What are you reading now? (Books Talk Post)

deputydog says...

i'm not reading a novel at the moment, just shitloads of books related to architecture, machinery and graffiti. it's a fucking blast.

'mural art: large scale art from walls around the world' is one of the best books i ever got my hands on. the photos in it are ridiculously awesome and it's the kind of book anyone and everyone will be impressed by. seriously. did i tell you it's fucking awesome yet?

'spacecraft: fleeting architecture and hideouts' is a book i've had for over a year now and i've just returned to it for the umpteenth time. even if you don't appreciate architecture you'll love this book. it's got a house in it where the furniture slides into the wallspace, a treehouse on top of a skyscraper, an incredible structure in thailand called 'hybrid muscle' which the locals attach buffalo to in order to generate electricity. if i could marry a book it'd be this one.

'over: the american landscape at the tipping point' is a photographic wankfest. this alex maclean fella got in a small plane and took hundreds of aerial photos of the american landscape where nature and humans have collided. it's a treat.

Iraq story buried by US networks

NordlichReiter says...

What we need to do is keep out noses out of things that do not involve us only until they absolutely involve us. Like WWII the last righteous war ever fought.

The Japanese saw pearl harbor as a Defensive attack. They view defensive as killing the attacker before he attacks, In WWII we had the right to fight and kick ass.

In Vietnam we were fighting the Chinese by proxy, and we failed. All of the wars after WWII are a waste of life and a waste of ammo.

The Iraq war is just for the dollar, thats all its for.

"The war is over so said the speaker
With a flight suit on
Maybe to him im just a pawn
So he can advance
remember when we used to dance
all i wanna do is dance" - "dirty harry" gorillaz

Er.. I hate to tell you this Quantummushroom, but IraqBodyCount.com is one of the sites whose numbers are actually quoted in the video... did you watch it?
Yeah. That guy's annoying accent pisses over everything. He obviously doesn't know about America's mainstream media being 98% left-wing, similar to the eurotrash they so admire.
And are you suggesting there is a group of citizens of the United States that WANT the US to lose a war?
Yup. They're the same people who want high gas prices so you'll drive less, guns banned so you're dependent on them for protection (not unlike the mafia), control of childrens' minds in politically-correct government-run schools and computerized thermostats so they can control your home's temperature from remote locations.
This collective sees the United States only as an exploitive gang of evil rich people controlling everyone else from their secret hideout in the pyramid on the back of the dollar bill. To them, there's nothing the USA can do right, it's all about some secret or not-so-secret profit motive.
And yes, this collective I'm describing wants the USA to lose wars, since Vietnam. They believe whatever they want to believe and always have; I'm just here to remind them they have the right to their own opinions but not to their own facts, and this "one million" number is questionable at best and a lie at worst.
