Ugh….Newark airport. So sorry.

I went there once…my dad was on federal trial in Newark in the early 80’s. Dirtiest, most industrially polluted city I’ve ever seen, and I lived next to Texas Cityand the Houston ship channel, an enormous refinery and ship channel between Houston and Galveston….biggest and most polluting in America by far at the time.

We went to NYC on the weekend…by comparison it was squeaky clean. I’ve never wanted to go back to either city.

Cops Attack Another Man For Walking While Black

newtboy says...

Funny you only say that when it’s a black man or woman beaten for not waiving their rights, but absolutely never against white murderous pedophilic terrorists like Ashley Babbitt. When MAGgots are being violent, destructive, and murderous you defend them to the bitter end, call any prosecution a political witch hunt, and simply refuse to discuss facts.

Non compliance with illegal orders.…because they had zero reason to ask him a thing, no reasonable suspicion of any crime but released the dog anyway.

Why is it you don’t think these non white citizens have CONSTITUTIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS? Why do you believe this one group should always cheerfully waive those RIGHTS and comply or it invites a violent attack from police, but you NEVER say that about white people (unless they’re obviously far left whites)? Never mind….it’s obvious why.

Maybe you should carefully examine your own true motives, because what you claim are your motives don’t match what you say and do.

Babbitt was an active violent destructive terrorist trying to murder US representatives with a murderous mob that had killed or tried to kill hundreds of police…like every MAGgot there. They all deserved at a minimum a good tooth breaking beating and assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest and interfering with police duties charges, right? They didn’t comply…have some consistency.

The law and courts ALL disagree that this is in any way acceptable, that’s why these victims get multi million dollar settlements. I say bankrupt Galveston so bad they change their police policies to match the law. Give this man $250 million. You say arrest him and put him in prison for resisting arrest (but not anyone white who did the same on Jan 6, they were exorcising their rights).

Clearly you think this is fine…but only against non MAGA. That destroys your pretend stance that you want financial responsibility, because you know every time this happens it costs taxpayers millions.

Eat a bag of baby dicks Gary.

Texas's new 31 billion dollar seawall to be constructed

newtboy says...

So…a state that denies climate change wants twenty billion of federal tax money (60 billion+ before its finished) to protect the tax exempt industry most responsible for climate change from the destruction is brings that they deny is real….all on taxpayer money, not a bit industry funded.

I grew up in Houston/Galveston. This is stupidity. There’s no way in hell they’ll ever stop hurricane flooding. The barriers would need to be 30 ft tall, not 5. They would also need to redirect numerous rivers that outflow through the coast, and find a way to remove unfathomable amounts of flood waters coming from land. I was there for Alicia, a relatively small hurricane in the 80’s, and all of Houston was 5 ft under water, with the bayous 40ft above their channels. That water flows into the Galveston area….behind these barriers.

This is a massive boondoggle that will never be built for dozens of reasons, but will still make numerous politicians and their families disgustingly rich, and may eventually partially protect some high value real estate, but never the entire coast. That’s today’s Texas. It bears noting, Texas is nearly $50 billion in debt with a crumbling electric grid, failing water system, no social services, and likely still $10 billion away from finishing their useless failed border fence….but plan to spend at least another $10 billion of state funds on this. How, exactly?

NASA: 10,000-Year Old Antarctic Ice Shelf Disintegrating

What else can they do?
When the conclusion is inescapable, the only option left for them is completely ignore the issue....and to try to force everyone else to ignore it as well.

I want to start a contract with all 'climate change deniers', the gist of which would be that once they, or the few groups they quote to support their position, change their position about climate change, 100% of their assets are forfeited to help solve or at least mitigate the problem. I'll sign the same contract, so if the 98+% of scientists change their position and tell us it's a fraud, they can have 100% of my assets to make up for the slight slowing of the economy caused by 'anti-climate change regulations'.
I'm 99.99999% certain I won't get any takers.

As a side note, I notice there isn't a thing where republicans are buying up ocean front property that's already below high tide level. If they really believed their own BS, the coast would be over 90% republican everywhere in the US, and Galveston would be 100% red (oh wait, it likely is already for other reasons, bad example!).

Sheepshead - The Fish With Human Teeth

A sheepshead was the first fish I ever caught, in Galveston. It was about 5 times the size of that one. I remember the eyes reminding me of sheep eyes, and I totally understood the name instantly.

Ron Paul on Fema and Hurricane Irene

Crosswords says...

Talk about rose colored glasses for the past. Some how the deadliest natural disaster and 2nd most costly hurricane in US history = A model of libertarian efficiency. What a ridiculous fallacious comparison. Maybe if the people had evacuated themselves or built a seawall and raised the island in anticipation of the storm rather than after ~8k people were killed and damn near every building on the island was wiped off it did they think, 'hey maybe we should be slightly concerned about hurricanes'. Further more, it was the Texas and Galveston governments that were responsible for the creation of the seawall. Its not like all the local residents and business banded together to create it.

I don't think anyone would argue that FEMA is a great agency, but to suggest its worthless is absurd (especially in offering the 1900 Galveston hurricane as comparison of how much better things were without FEMA).

what an fool.
Erik Larson has a great book on the 1900 Galveston hurricane. Crazy, crazy tale.
Many thousands were killed...yet the moral imbecile above figures this means "the local people...survived without FEMA."
Hey Ron Paul fanboys--yr pipsqueak hero will never be more than a loony non-entity in our broken gummint's 'lower house'. Which is more than he deserves.

And who are you a fanboy of? Who will fix the problems?

I am neither fanboy of nor do I think RP is a god. However, I think our culture is far worse than this "loony" man... Lazy, divisive, entitled, children with too much to lose. And those are our better sides.

So what fix do you have if any?

But now @Yogi and @blankfist

Everything needs more money...when does it end? Education, needs more money. Roads and bridges? Needs more money. Energy? Money. Wealthy people need their tax breaks, poor people do too. We need money in healthcare, we need money...money...money...money...

I need my money in a box, I need my money with a ass, I do like my money here or there, I do like my money with a Nair, that Uncle Sam I am does like his money!
