I took the Egyptian one to be based on the Greek queen Cleopatra, and she's very definitely part of the Western European tradition.
Which costume did you think wasn't part of that tradition?
In reply to this comment by DerHasisttot:
>> ^oritteropo:
Rich, Western European.
I still liked it
>> ^DerHasisttot:
Misnomer; should be: Women of rich husbands/fathers through the ages, at least the first two thirds. (I'm just saying this to go against the romanticised notion conveyed in this video that women of the past wore nice dresses and jewellery. Just as today, only accurate for a very small percentage.)

Archeologists Hope to Find Tomb of Cleopatra
>> ^BreaksTheEarth:
I can't wait until they find the tomb of Zahi Hawass. His self-aggrandizing rivals Ramses II.
Don't you just love his voice though?
Harold Lloyd: "Safety Last"- 1923 - The 1st Spiderman?
From Wiki
Lloyd kept copyright control of most of his films and re-released them infrequently after his retirement. Lloyd did not grant cinematic release because in the main most theaters could not accommodate an organist, and Lloyd did not wish his work to be accompanied by a pianist: "I just don't like pictures played with pianos. We never intended them to be played with pianos". Similarly, his features were never shown on television as Lloyd's price was high: "I want $300,000 per picture for two showings. That's a high price, but if I don't get it, I'm not going to show it. They've come close to it, but they haven't come all the way up". As a consequence, his reputation and public recognition suffered in comparison with Chaplin and Keaton, whose work has generally been more available.
Oh dear, something tells me he would not approve of this version Thankfully his work has gotten more recognition as of recently.
Now if only someone could stumble across that elusive copy of Cleopatra...
I had a cheapo low quality VHS of Laurel and Hardy when I was little my parents would let me watch and recently the same short got a restoration, the difference was night and day. Preserve the classics!

Hello my dear. My roller derby baby. My thinks too much Cleopatra.
It is imperative that you be happy.
I guess...nobody sent you the memorandum.
Well, here I am...again...making up for the screwed up priorities of the world....
To remind you...how wonderful you are.
And how, with every sunrise that you see, I can breath more easily.
Ah! Relax. She's still here.
The world hasn't ended yet.
Team hope to find Cleopatra's tomb

America's "Christian" Heritage
it is a rather "loud" set design. by just looking at it, i would guess they are talking about cleopatra or something ancient egyptian
Sarah Palin: A bad choice but... I'd still... you know?
You know what campioni, I'll grant you that she's not really that attractive. Nonetheless, she has a following on the conservative side of the aisle. And hell, let's face it, even many of us lefties want to shag her. So what does this mean? My half-assed theory is this:
Power is an aphrodisiac, for everyone. Now I know that many many misogynists throughout history have advocated this theory strictly in regard to women, but I believe history indicates that there is more to the story. Cleopatra, Catherine the Great of Russia, Sacagawea, etc. all demonstrate that women of noble stature are considered attractive. Who knows how beautiful these women actually were? Can we rely on court painters to realistically depict them?
In other words, mean and women are considered more attractive by the general populace, based on nothing more than their access to power.
Thus concludes my lesson in shit you already knew.
