Chicago Cop Abandons Woman Being Threatened With A Gun

vil says...

I would attempt to get some form of training for similar situations before being given a gun and a bulletproof vest.

The guy should not be thinking about what to do, just doing it.

Graphene Batteries Hit the Market

Spacedog79 says...

Hold on a minute, if graphene is 100 times stronger than steel and 2 atomic layers can be "bulletproof" then that would mean a sheet of steel 200 atoms thick would be equally bulletproof? That would be 1000 times thinner than aluminium foil, what sort of weedy bullets are they using?

Avalon Airshow Takes Raving To The Next level

newtboy says...

Oh....I didn't say it worked! ;-)
His glasses were 3/4 inch thick afterwards. I went with him to get his new pair shortly after surgery, he drove, and the difference was startling. I realized he couldn't see a thing on the drive there. I thought he had been joking when he asked if the lane was clear when there was a bus beside us....I was wrong.

I guess in the end it did work, as well as expected in the 80's. He still could barely see with bulletproof thickness glasses, but he wasn't completely blind.

Have to be honest, music is wrong for the scene and, unless that Maserati is a custom bulletproof model, Mary would be dead.

I mean, unless it was a nod to old b movie action flicks, the placement of the holes on the doors didn't even try to pretend that something like the engine block or a tire stopped the rounds.

New Metallica song - Moth into flame

eric3579 says...

Blacked out
Pop queen, amphetamine
The screams crashed into silence

Tapped out
Doused in the gasoline
The high times going timeless

Decadence
Death of the innocence
The pathway starts to spiral

Infamy
All for publicity
Destruction going viral

Light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Bulletproof
Ah, kill the truth
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
High again

Sold your soul
Built a higher wall
Yesterday
Now you’re thrown away

Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame

Twisted
Backstabbing wicked
The delusion absolution

Perjurer
Fame is the murderer
Seduce you into ruin

Light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Bulletproof
Ah, tell the truth
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
High again

Sold your soul
Built the higher wall
Yesterday
Now you’re thrown away

Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame
Burn

Guarantee your name, you go and kill yourself
The vultures feast around you still
Overdose on shame and insecurity
If one won’t do that fistful will

Death scene
Black hearse the limousine
A grave filled with seduction

Vaccine
Fame does the murdering
She builds up for destruction

So light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Bulletproof
Ah, no excuse
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
High again

Sold your soul
Built the higher wall
Yesterday
Now you’re thrown away

Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame

Police Murder Oklahoma Man Terence Crutcher *Graphic Death*

newtboy says...

Very few people want more dead cops, we want fewer dead citizens at the hands of the cops.....WAY fewer.
That said, turnabout is fair play, and in a citizen VS cop death, it's 25 times more likely that the cop kills the citizen than vice versa. Until that statistic is reversed, cops have no reasonable complaint to make.
If any armed citizen can be considered a threat that may be killed for no other reason, what makes cops any different? They are not only all armed, but also aggressive, confrontational, and have proven to be deadly. Any citizen should have the same rights to self defense against them, with a LOWER threshold of threat required, after all, citizens don't have training, backup, bulletproof vests, or prosecutors on their side.

Taking Personal Responsibility for Your Health

ThatNerdyScienceGirl says...

As the "Bozo" who runs the very site that you just attacked, I would like a chance to respond to your baseless accusations, sir.

I was plant-based lacto-vegetarian at the time of writing that post, and was vegan just 13 days after writing it, on November 27th. I am now going back and forth between vegan and vegetarian due to severe digestive health issues, but thanks for trying to say I am using that post to "justify" anything I do.

I wrote the blog post, and if you read it, I simply mention why Greger is unreliable as the "bulletproof" source that many vegans make him out to be, including his bias and his inaccuracies. I never once attacked him as a person, which you would know if you actually read the post, I simply mention that inaccurate claims that he doesn't benefit from his work, because facts state that the charity he gives to is his own charity, which does nothing other than fund his videos, books, and lectures.

These are facts. This isn't even an opinion. I am not trying to attack Greger, and I think that if he dropped his biases at the front door, and didn't use flawed or non-existent studies to promote this that or the other, I would like him more.

But to be honest, no, he isn't this infallible being people claim him to be.

and no, the WHO report, if you read it, does not mention Chicken Nuggets or Turkey Slices. The FAQ section I linked to only mentions poultry once, as the definiton of a processed food. But it also said:

"21. Should we eat only poultry and fish?

The cancer risks associated with consumption of poultry and fish were not evaluated."

Read the actual post before commenting on whether or not a blog is "opinion"

Sincerely,

The Bozo

Referencing one opinion blog to accuse someone's lack of scientific evidence.

Oh the irony...

EDIT: BTW the blogger is just some bozo that is trying to justify her reasons not to be fully vegetarian/vegan, by using character assassination.

She's doing whatever it takes to clear herself from any responsibility or guilt.

The Most Costly Joke in History

newtboy says...

Versatility is great, but I think they tried to do everything and failed to do anything well. Having multiple skills is different from trying to be a Jack of ALL trades.

Personally, I much prefer bulletproof to 'invisible', since there's no such thing as invisible, just hard to see.

Again, that's the plan, but it can't do that today. When acting as 'close air support', it is visible and in danger from ground and directed air fire, going slow, and is slow to get going fast again. Also, close air support is not just dropping bombs, that's more medium-long range.

No, the F-35 is the worst plane for 'full air superiority' because it's far too expensive, and we won't have enough of them to control the smallest skies for years/decades, and even then they'll be to valuable to use that way.

Yes, it seems like insane overkill to be electronically invisible to fight against people who barely have electricity. Even against the most advanced ground to air systems, our current planes were doing fine. I don't see the need for this in the foreseeable future, just the desire for better, more expensive toys.

transmorpher said:

For sure, I believe that by trying to be all things, it has made compromises in other areas. But perhaps the flexibility is a more important than a few advantages here and there. All of the current US planes are also multi role as well, with the exception of dedicated bombers. So any jack of all trades worries also apply to the majority of the planes that have been in service for the last 30 years. It seems like versatility has been the driving factor for upgrades. So it makes sense a new plane would be designed with versatility in mind.

For things like Close Air Support, I would much rather be in the invisible fast plane, than the bullet proof slow plane like the A-10. You've dropped your bombs before the enemy even know you're there, and before the bombs hit the ground, you're 40KMs away, at an altitude where most ground based missile systems can't hit you(even if they can detect you).

Close air support of that nature of course only happens when you have reached full air superiority, which the F-35 is the best plane for.

It might seem overkill now to have such an advanced plane to drop bombs on people with AK-47's, but you never know how politics can change. Assad might decide to start buying some advanced Russian SAM systems, and that's when a stealth plane will come in handy.

Burt Rutan's ARES turbofan "Mudfighter"

SFOGuy says...

Would have made an ideal cheap export weapon for our then "friends" to use in counter-insurgency.

Low countermeasures, not bulletproofed, one engine---anywhere where the pilots were a relatively cheap commodity, it would have been a useful add on.

Anywhere else, for US Forces, given the cost of training pilots---
Probably not really economical.

If the Army was allowed to have fixed wing aircraft (it's not; that's part of the deal with having the Air Force)---then I bet they'd would have wanted it for a counter-insurgency role, where the other guy had no airplanes and no SAMS/heavy anti aircraft---but that doesn't describe the world of the 1980s and the Fulda Gap very accurately lol

Cops using unexpected level of force to arrest girl

chingalera says...

For Sheppard-Did say that there are exceptions to the rule of the 'bad cops' encountered, found many in California to be gentlemen and professionals, courteous, civil, and humane, and still find a few in Texas as well but….Texas is another beast and I let my guard down in the situation described-THESE facts however, do not annihilate the argument that all police are felons because if you stay in the game long enough in the employ of any jurisdiction in the country, you will as a police officer commit an act that is patently felonious, will witness a felony and say or do nothing to righteously call-it-out to either a superior or internal affairs, OR, as is the case with extant procedure I might add to my argument (which you took so personally through affiliation and family, and with as much rage and emotion as myself, -my own failing) be sanctioned to commit acts deemed felonious were they committed by the general public, BY THE BROKEN SYSTEM.

You took it personally to defend your delusion and your family's ties to law enforcement, or simply can't follow the simple argument in which I clarified the facts simply, which is relatively bulletproof.

Your cited examples, and I apologize, I am NOT responsible for your emotional state or that of anyone else by my own, of your own family's humanitarian efforts in the local community, could possibly represent their own guilt or embarrassment of having taken part in such generalized enforcement of the will of the state, "just doing their JOBS" in their later years.

They see shit every day, and it takes a special person not to become the shit they see and I'll give you that-Corrupt systems corrupt other systems. I equate these humanitarian efforts on the part of cops to MAKE UP FOR the bad rap of the felonious activities they witnessed and remained silent on.

Law enforcement is become now simply big-business designed to control humans like cattle, and keep them in-line so that they will feed the machine and perpetuate itself....To create a criminal class and to insure in perpetuity the systems that feed upon the incubators of criminals-in-formation, in the ever-growing prison industry and the shit-heal companies that cater to the systems that make-up the vile web of law enforcement run-amok in the USA.

Sorry if I wrinkled yer sack and brought you to that place of rage and control that ALL police and the children of police hold so dear, it's called faulty imprinting and it's systemic in not only the sick fraternal order of police but in ALL of the dysfunctional society of America.

I do know what police are and they are simply doing what they were programmed to do. My fuck-up was letting my guard down to catch my toe in the meat-grinder of that sick system.Believe me,it will not happen again, as I intend to stroke the dicks of every sheit cop I see in the future, and make their egos feel all warm and fucking fuzzy, with a view to self-preservation.
