Tesla Demo of Tesla Bot GEN 2

spawnflagger says...

IANAL but I think internal prototype names can be anything - it's only if they bring it to market that there could be some chance of consumer "confusion".
I'm still waiting to see the lawsuit from Microsoft, who has owned the "X" trademark for many years.
Also, Elon has been promising such a robot for years - at least it's not a human in a robot costume this time... but could easily be CG. I'll believe it when I see some 3rd party people putting it through its paces. (yes, I was skeptical of the Boston Dynamics videos as well until they let others in to film)

I hope Hasbro and Takara Tomy and Paramount and Dreamworks made them pay through the nose for using their IP, but my guess is Elon just did it without permission.
I can find no press release or documentation that Tesla bought the rights to Bumblebee or Optimus Prime or any transformers robots. Looks like theft.

Hasbro and Takara Tomy and Paramount should sue the pants off of him for blatantly stealing their IP for advertising purposes.

Fuck you Elon, you’re a thief and a liar.

Tesla Reveals Robot at AI Day 2022 (HIGHLIGHTS)

newtboy says...

If you really believe their claim here that the first untethered walking test was done at a press conference in public, I have some hurricane proof property in Ft Meyers to sell you.

Under $20k…I hope that’s not as overly optimistic as the semi truck specs were.

It’s pretty far behind Boston Dynamics in ability, they can do flips, hop, even dance. I hope the production version is all they claim, but I’m not holding my breath.

Exclusive Look At New Killer Drone Small Enough To Fit In

spawnflagger says...

Even Amazon Delivery Drones could be re-purposed to drop grenades from an altitude high enough to be inaudible & hard to see.

There were several examples of near-future dystopian sci-fi use of killer drones on Black Mirror...
1 was a small flying kamikaze drone that had facial recognition and a shape charge just big enough to penetrate the targets skull.
Other was Boston-Dynamics-style "dog" robot that had a gun embedded into it's front "paw" and was programmed to kill all humans. Both terrifying and hopefully never deployed IRL.

Boston Dynamics | Spots got an arm!

mysdrial says...

What they don't tell you is that, now that Spot has an arm, they did all the camera work too...after eliminating the unnecessary and wasteful human component of Boston Dynamics.

Boston Dynamics Dancing Robots

Digitalfiend says...

It's amazing how far Boston Dynamics has come with these robots.
The level of engineering that goes into these is incredible - they've become so good it's almost hard to appreciate just how difficult it is to balance a bipedal robot, never mind making one dance!
