Ooofff….Trump also said in New Hampshire that he’s just like a criminally rogue bad cop or child molesting priest and needs immunity just like they do or police, priests, and the president won’t be able to do their jobs….not understanding that bad police and chomo priests and the president DON’T have immunity, and for very good reason.

I think he handled it right. He had all evidence on camera that he needed to avoid a situation getting out of hand. No reason to start creating a more dangerous situation.

A good cop would treat the obvious bad cop like anyone else…meaning pull his gun on the driver that tried to flee the stop, pull him out violently and face down in the street at gunpoint, and handcuff him.
It would mean taser the armed guy jumping out of the car yelling, taser the guy refusing to comply, and if he still gets back in the car shoot his tires at a minimum, deploy pepper spray, and taze the ever loving shit out of him until the batteries die. That’s how they treat the public.
It doesn’t mean letting him do whatever he feels like and just watching and reporting it. Granted, that alone is improvement, but it’s still not “good”.

Good cops don’t let felonious drivers jump out to curse at them, refuse to comply, and leave without chase.

In short, when they return to being police, I will give them the respect they will have earned, that’s when …but they have turned from that and only earned scorn and hatred in the last 35+ years. The "no good cop" part is right...it's not guilt by association though, it's guilt by being complicit, not turning them in, turning a blind eye, lying to protect the "bad apples"...being accessories after the fact is criminal. Yes, failure to clean their own house makes them bad cops. That's fixable, but only if they clean house...the best, easiest, most thorough way would be fire them all and only reinstate those with clean records, those with complaints need retraining at the least before being police again, many need to be fired. Not perfect, but better than most suggestions imo.
Edit: I do like the suggestion to make it the law that they must intervene if another cop is out of control, and must report it. I also support body cams that can't be turned off, but I want covering them or taking them off to be a felony.

I did say fire them all....but also said to hire them back. That gives us an opportunity to say 'this guy has 27 complaints and 3 multi-million dollar settlements paid out, he's not cop material'. Union rules won't let cops be fired even for cause most times, and absolutely won't allow a national registry of criminal cops. Those facts need to change if the culture is to change.

I'm of the opinion that if we keep any of the bad apples, nothing else matters, they'll corrupt the rest. The best way to save the bunch is remove any apples that even LOOK bad....that may leave us with a massive shortage, but that's FAR better than the criminal force we have today, no? One bad apple spoils the bunch...I wish those crying about a just few bad apples understood the phrase they're parsing.

Nothing will satisfy EVERYONE, but it actually takes very little to placate most mobs, just the suggestion that they've been heard is often enough, and why things got so bad. 30+ years ago. I would bet he doesn't remember it, seemed like a normal everyday thing for him to violently threaten someone's life, then threaten their safety and freedom if they dared to complain.
It also seemed that he accepted zero responsibility for his mistake or actions, like most cops, something his superiors obviously agreed with. It was somehow my fault he misread my clean license plate, so what would he have to regret?

I learned that day that it's not just individual bad cops, it's top down criminality and disdain for citizens.
