Come on Eric3579, you've had your lunch

I was 13 years old in 1967. This film was a favorite for years.

Love your homage to the great and glorious Eric3579

Palestinian UN Ambassador At UN

bobknight33 says...

Hamas took over the Gaza Strip after a brief civil war back in 2006 / 2007 . Before that Fatah was a major Palestinian political party that began in 1965 as the Palestinian National Liberation Movement. Fatah wanted to negotiate back to the 67 boundaries.

Hamas – Does not recognize Israel, but accepts a Palestinian state on 1967 borders
Fatah – Recognizes Israel, wants to build a state on 1967 borders

Israel should stop advancing and leave it to the Palestine to find and and capture Hamas.
To pressure this no aid to Palestine. Their desperation will weed out Hamas.

Storing dead people at -196°C

newtboy says...

Just idiotic. Idiotic, wasteful, immoral, unethical, and impossible…

The ancient Egyptians had a better chance at resurrection.
When the preservation process causes more irreversible damage than death, paying through the nose for it is just dumb…especially paying to have just your disembodied head frozen in a vat with hundreds of others who died of something incurable.
Won’t it be ironic when they solve the cell rupturing freezing issues, learn to reanimate dead tissue and repair brains that were freezer burned for decades…only to not be able to cure the diseases they gave you by tossing you in a vat with the other heads! 😂

This is nothing new. The first intentionally cryogenically frozen person was frozen in 1967, and not much has changed.

Also…who in the f*ck thinks “there aren’t enough people, we need to bring back the dead”? What utterly brain dead moron thinks stopping death, even just for the Uber rich, is a good or feasible idea.

In the immortal words of comic book guy, worst idea ever!

Tesla China - Shanghai Gigafactory production line

bobknight33 says...

EV will be 85% of all new vehicles sold on showroom floors in with in 10 years

Tesla dominates today and is ahead of all by at least 5 years in technology.

1100 shares and want more.

They build factories in 11 months.

Giga Shanghai factory 2 will be pushing out cars in about 2 months
Giga Berlin should be pushing out cars next march.

Tesla just adding super stamper in Fremont CA Factory and the new shanghai factory 2.

My guess, they will exceed their goal this year of 560,000 and will hit 600K

By end of 2021 their goal is 2 Million vehicles.

Battery day/ investor day is this Sept 22. This is the biggest event of the year.
Their Nevada battery factory in NV is large enough to hold 97 747 jets. And its not enough. I expect big news. The million mile battery is all but a done deal. IE after 1 Mil Miles the battery only degrades 5 to 8 %.

In 1967, this movie scene told the future.

Today the word is TESLA

Jeopardy! First Tiebreaker Ever After 37 seasons

ulysses1904 says...

My mom was a contestant on the original Jeopardy in 1967. She wasn't the winner but back then everyone got to keep their winnings, she won $160. And the home game version of Jeopardy, a set of encyclopedias and Turtle Wax or Rice a Roni or something like that.

Vox: Why Puerto Rico is not a US state

opism says...

So, they want full representation, but not to have to follow the full federal laws (any pay full federal taxes).

Last year was the first time (in 5 votes since 1967) that they have clearly voted for statehood, however, there was record low voter turnout (23%) due to the party supporting keeping territory status boycotting the election (and IMO not being done in an election year), and possibly skewing the results.

2017-
97% voted yes, to statehood with only 23% turnout (78% turnout in the 2012 election).
A poll done in 2017 found that only 52% supported statehood (Although in my opinion, it was a very small sample size at 966 people)

It is trending toward statehood, but so far, it is not even clear that Puerto Ricans want it.

I believe I am impartial as I really don't care one way or the other, but this video feels like it is only telling half of a sob story, but it is a mess.

I feel, in 2020, they need a measure that ask 1 question: statehood, colony, or independent. Last time they asked it that way was 1993.

Who Pays on a First Date?

bareboards2 says...

That thing about "best friend"? I have been saying that EXACT THING for years.

And not just about who pays for a date. It is for all aspects of the relationship. If I wouldn't put up with certain crap from a friend, why would I from a fella?

Side note -- never have I been in an abusive relationship. I wonder why that is?

But I know I am wired differently.

Long before feminism was a big important concept to me, I went on my first date with a young man I didn't know well.

I was 13 years old, in 1967. We went to a matinee at the local movie theater. Fifty cents a ticket.

I remember standing behind him in line, as he awkwardly paid, and I awkwardly didn't know what to do or say.

And my main thought was -- I have a job. I can afford my own ticket. (I cleaned test tubes in the junior high science lab. I still have sense memories of moldy agar in a petri dish.)

I never got over that. I still feel that way. Go ahead and treat me to something special that you can afford. Next time, it'll be my turn to pick the activity and I'll pick something I can afford.

I was lousy at dating. But I was clear about the basic equality necessary in order to respectful to both of us.

Epic Rap Battles of History: James Bond vs Austin Powers

eric3579 says...

I defer to your opinion as i'm only assessing, who bond is, from my childhood viewing of 007 films. Not at all from Flemings books which ive never read.

Also my favorite "Bond' film may be 1967 Casino Royale. That film was a hoot Although nothing like your typical Bond film. http://videosift.com/video/Best-Bond-film-ever-1967-Casino-Royale-trailer
I did however see 'The spy who loved me' about ten times, when it came out.

ChaosEngine said:

Roger Moore? Controversial!

Personally, I think Dalton or Craig are closest to Flemings Bond, but Connery's movies were the best.

Craig got off to an excellent start with Casino Royale, but the others have been fairly average.

The best Bond movies ever, though, are the first three Bourne movies
