The New 24 Beside the Old 17

One of the two big gifts I received from Charms this Christmas is a 24" Samsung LCD (model 245BW). I just had to share my elation after finally getting it all setup properly.

The 24" bad boy is using the DVI port and the old 17" is using the old D-Sub port of my antiquated video card. It took a few kicks and elbow drops from the top turnbuckle, but I was able to finally get them set up with DualView. This enables me to run the 17" as a separate monitor altogether that's accessible through what's sort of a continuation of the 24" monitor's right edge.

I've included a snapshot below (click to see a bigger size) and you can see that the most obvious difference aside from size is the brightness (or lack thereof) on the little guy. It's a damned awesome setup and I just can't believe how enormous this sucker is. (Thank you, my Charms! )

congrats on the new 24", I have just replaced my dead Dell 24" this holiday season after having to slaving away on my backup 19" for nearly a month. I luvz my 24"... got a Gateway this time, who knew they made a good monitor.

Don't for get to set the layout width at the bottom of the sift page so you can enjoy all that new real estate.

That's why I took a close-up of just the monitors. (Not to mention that I Photoshop'd out a bit of dust that the flash brought out, but don't tell anyone!

Slaved away on a tiny 19" huh, YDJ? Haha. Poor you.

Yeah, it was still shrunken down to the sniveling little 1280 setting because I had just dragged FireFox from the little monitor over to the ginormous (yes, that's a real word now) one. Speaking of which, perhaps I should add another larger size for those of us who are unusually well endowed, so to speak.

Look for a 1900 width option to appear at the bottom of the page soon.

If I take a picture now, all is dark but the monitor. I will wait for light time. Mine says it rotates too. I will have to see how easy that is and if I like portrait mode. Mostly I like opening windows next to each other for easy comparison and copy and paste.
