absolutely one of the best rpgs. a fascinating cyberpunk future world and great gameplay.

youtuber:

Have you ever sat and pondered the question, "What is the deepest RPG ever made for a console? What if someone made a console game in the style of a PC Game, and stayed true to the pen and paper roots it was based on"?

Yeah, probably not. I do, though.

The answer was Shadowrun, for the Sega Genesis 16bit console. A wonderful little game that, if you watch my old collection video, I wax nostalgic on and show off my box for it.

You will not find another game, either on the PC or the console, that remains as faithful to its pen and paper counterpart as Shadowrun does. It is, without question, the deepest console RPG ever made. Non-linear, clever dialog, shit-tons of combat, character customization out the ass, a boatload of statistics, random encounters galore, dice rolls controlling *EVERY ASPECT* of the game...it truly was ahead of its time.

Yes, the free-roaming world is small, but keep in mind I was playing this the summer before my graduation in 94. This is an old game, on a very low-tech system...yet it's ten times as deep as Oblivion and takes considerably longer to finish as well. It's basically the "Daggerfall of the consoles".

Cyberspace was handled brilliantly, as you can see. As a Shadowrun fanboy (My channel background is taken from the SNES version of this game) I could sit here for hours and talk about how wonderful this game is. I always wanted to do a video of it, and now I can.

It is the *only* console RPG I would dare put in my Forgotten RPGs series. It is, quite frankly, the only one that deserves it. (Persona and Earthbound are far too popular nowadays to be considered forgotten)

If you have spare time, pick up the ROM and play it. You will never find another RPG, on *any* platform that is as deep, challenging, and addictive as Shadowrun. There are so many different party combinations, weapon loadouts, specializations and allegiances you can form (I prefer joining the mob, since they give you the best armor in the game) that you'll have to play through a half a dozen times to truly experience it all.

This video does NOT do it justice. Mainly because I just recently started this character.
