Your Bailout Money At Work: GM Announces 700K More Recalls

American automobile manufacturer General Motors announced six new recalls covering 717,950 vehicles on Wednesday, bringing the company’s total recalled units in 2014 to 30 million.

CNBC’s Phil LeBeau said in a tweet that none of the recalls were related to the company’s widely publicized ignition switch problem, and that the new recalls cover six models from 2011-2014.

Defective vehicles include the 2011-2012 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010-2012 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, 2011-2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse and 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX.

The recalls have reportedly been issued to address a loose bolt in the front powered seat-height adjustment mechanism, which has caused injuries, and a lower control arm bolt of the Korean-imported Chevrolet Spark, which was not fastened correctly. General Motors did not report any accidents resulting from the latter defect, but said it could cause mechanical problems leading to a potential loss in steering control.

The country’s largest automaker has issued a total of 60 recalls so far in 2014.
