I'm trying to remember where, but I recall hearing it said that the classic movie\tv line of "Go ahead and shoot me, then" and variants are commonly reported to be someone's last words. It seems in the real world aggressors are much more likely to comply with the request.

The point is that gun laws don't stop totally INSANE people from not having guns. So everyone's whole ""Arm Everyone" HAR HAR HAR THOSE PEOPLE ARE STUPID" line is totally wrong. Because RIGHT HERE you have your Utopia of "Gun Control" and the only person with the gun is some insane lady.

If we lived in a perfect world and you could wiggle your nose and make ALL the guns disappear I'd agree with you and say we should destroy all the guns. But we don't and we won't.

Look up the gun crime rate of the US in comparison to highly regulated countries on a per capita basis. There's you argument right there.

Like Piracy, it's not about stopping every single person from having a gun, it's about making the barrier to entry high enough that most regular people won't bother - stop the 90 percent, so that people who are emotional don't pull out a gun randomly, or misread a situation and shoot someone.
