What is Going on in Quebec??

"Pots & Pans Protest: Angry Canadians make a bang"

Beginning in March this year as a protest against public funding cuts to education, the government response to the student protests was to pass "Law 78" prohibiting any unannounced gathering for groups over fifty people with fines as high as $25,000 for leaders and organizers.

In response to the new law, over 250,000 (some reports suggesting numbers as high as 500,000) took to the streets on May 24th. Thousands more protested all around the province. Every night at 8pm on my street in Quebec City, you can hear the pots and pans banging, as thousands participate. There is very little coverage of these events in English media.
