His observation about how Jesus would be received today is 100% accurate. Jesus would be shouted down by O'Reilly as a radical activist and he'd be crucified at least figuratively by the 21st century equivalent of the Pharisees - televangelists and the Moral Majority/Focus on the Family political powermongers.

How is this not comedy? It may be a serious topic, but it's absolutely loaded with wit and sarcasm. It's even in the comedy category on youtube and Pat himself is labeled as a comedian. Perhaps you don't find him funny, but that's different.

I think he's wrong about Jesus being crucified by the Fox Network. Why? Because I think Jesus wouldn't even make the news. He's not hateful, spiteful, rich, or beautiful enough.

Also, he seems to think "Christians" are the only problem. He's wrong. There are two problems with America...

The first problem with America is that there are a bunch of Non-Christians who go around pretending to be Christians in order to fool people (and the people fall for it).

The second problem with America is that it worships Money and the Self, instead of living the golden rule.

marr, that's one of the most lucid descriptions of America's problems I've ever heard...proving yet again that the sift is the thinking person's youtube.

This is a great video. I loved it and it really gave me an insight into the mind of a "american" who isn't "american"? lol

This video is really funny. I think dis-belief in scripture makes sense. But, it doesn't prove that there isn't a God. Just that the statements in those scriptures aren't all true based on what we know. A wrong statement doesn't prove anything for or against there being a God. Here is a good quote to ponder. To me, Einstein realizes there is some uniform power greater than us that created order and laws in the universe.

"everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is indeed quite different from the religiosity of someone more naive." ~ Einstein

"the sift is the thinking person's youtube"

I really like the sound of that. For me, it crystallized the reason that I've felt at home here and now spend as little time as possible on youtube (except when looking for new sifts).

He is very down to earth, this man and summarizes quite popular views on developments in the US over the last 20 years. If Jesus existed, he should just resurrect the founding fathers who wrote the constituion and let them lead the US of A as an oligarchy - much better than the current one made up by Bush Sr./Jr., Rumsfeld, Rice and Co.

A wrong statement doesn't prove anything for or against there being a God.

This is very true indeed. All we need is one thing that argues FOR Gods existance.

Einstein had a very interesting approach indeed, My impression is that he didnt se God as the force laying down the laws, but rather as the laws themselves is God . I believe thats what he meant when he said he wanted to know the mind of God, and that God does not play dice.

"America is a little too christian for Jesus" - That's just pure gold, right there.

The first chapter of The God Delusion explains Einsteinian religion more thoroughly with quotes from Einstein. It has nothing to do with a personal God you might think of. Einstein did not believe in a God who heard prayers, or who concerned himself with people. His God was not even a conscious being. He didn't believe in an afterlife, either.
