Two cops killed during traffic stop

Tragic. There's an agonizingly long moment where you know the officer should be pulling the trigger and he doesn't. The officer's mistake was repeatedly telling the perp to put down the gun instead of just shooting him in the head preemptively. If I were that cop I'd have shot the perp in the head the instant he lunged forward, or the instant he reached for his gun.
