The Herd - 77%. Aussie Skip-Hop

Something different. The Herd are a political Australian hip hop group. They penned this classic piece of political skip-hop after the previous Aussie Prime Minister John Howard sent the Navy to incercept a Norweigan ship which had picked up a sinking boatload of asylum seekers just outside Australian waters.

Howard refused the ship entry to Australian waters, and when it entered regardless on humanitarian grounds, he sent the SAS instead of medical supplies. They were eventually shipped to Nauru, a small pacific island, for processing outside of Australian refugee obligations. Ironically, most of them were found to be genuine refugees coming from Afghanistan, and ultimately ended up in Australia.

Coming at a sensitive time (2001) for a government looking quite unsteady, the event triggered overwhelming support from the Australian population to the dismay of some of us. For a country of immigrants, Aussies can be mighty sensitive to other boat arrivals...
