So do we modern secular intellectuals make use of any Gods of the Gaps?

My bet is all the talk of consciousness as a kind of invisible spiritual material is just another God of the Gaps, but I think we'll see within most of our lifetimes.

Indeed. Consciousness is the thing most people tend to think is mystical.

Our conscious experience is all gaps. We can make the gaps smaller but they are always there.
