The bugler- actually playing a B-flat trumpet- famously cracked the 6th note of Taps. Commentators at the time called it a "musical tear" and said it added poignancy to the piece. For months after all the buglers at Arlington copied the cracked note.

Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of a president that while horrifying, kept him and his brother from becoming some hardcore gangster-brothers running the place. Who's to say we wouldn't be equally as fucked now, without the CIA or Vietnam?
