seems to me that there only need to be a few extraordinary and exceptional cases for this average percentage rate of return to skew as tremendously high as this.

Anyone want to dig up the data to check if my hunch is correct and that this isn't as straight a regression curve as the TYT is making it seem?

Second time I've heard about this study and it's nonsense. If I buy my grandfather an ice cream cone and he leaves me $100,000 in his will, did I just have a 10000000% gain on my ice cream cone? No because he was disposed to leave me that money anyway.

Even better? I spent $0 lobbying George Bush and he gave me a $300 tax cut. That's infinity % return!

Without a time machine, or at least a control group, there's no way to know how much of this tax break was due to lobbying, and how much was due to republican's just enjoying giving tax breaks for businesses.

I think no matter how outrageous the return is...if they weren't getting a return on their investment...they wouldn't keep "donating" to politicians.

Just like a normal person wouldn't continue to donate if they thought their organization of choice was not using the money as the person intended. Whether that's law enforcement not spending more time patrolling their neighborhood, hungry children not being taken care of, animals not being rescued, etc.

The major problem is, if money dictates who gets the most attention from the politicians, then corporations are going to win hands down every time.

It shouldn't even be a possibility that money given to individuals in government should change their decision. Their decisions should be about keeping the best interest of their voting base at heart, and corporations support doesn't always = best interest. For that matter, the whole donations BS should be done away with, then it won't be in doubt when someone is taking a bribe or not. Because they can't hide it as a donation.
