A very well done machinima production that introduces each of the TF2 classes in an in-game beating of a hapless team... And better yet, no bad voiceovers!

A big huge 'MEH' for me.

The whole thing may look kinda slick, and sound pretty good, but that's ENTITELY using in game assets, it's all the in game voices, sounds and graphics as is.

The flow of it all was a bit... eh
The clarity of what each bit was supposed to show was also... meh
This really is a fanboi style thing, assume everyone already knows what you're on about.

Certainly could have benefited from some intro cards for each player at the start of their bit, and perhaps an actual narrative would have been nice also.

Visually good, but boring plot.

Yes, these Machinima productions are getting better but the video description ("better yet, no bad voiceovers") reveals one of it's weaknesses. For these kinds of productions to take the next step, they're going to have to find a way of adding GOOD voiceovers & dialogue, because these are tried and true storytelling tools.

For instance, that bit in the basement where a medic-heavy duo convince the entire Blue team to retreat was weird at best. If you're going to task your audience to suspend that kind of disbelief, then you're going to need more than stock voice commands.

I mean, this is a nice post-production exercise: to be able to arrange and edit all the raw footage in a professional way. THAT part has been deftly handled by advanced software and solid creativity. But I feel more pre-production time (story, plot, acting, pro voice recording, sound mastering, etc.) will reap greater rewards.

Hi folks,
I think the points above are all extremely well made. At first, (I wrote the video description right after seeing the video for the first time) I was impressed with the creativity required to sculpt entire dialogue sequences around many TF2 voice snippets I haven't yet heard. That element of using game assets (instead of soundalikes or just kids doing bad voiceovers) really kept me in the movie. However, the terrible pacing and stretched sequences definitely took me out of it as well.

This was awesome - thought the heavy would totally go uber in that confrontation though.

I was impressed by how they DIDN'T overplay their hand though.

In a way, it was minimalist *art. *shortfilms too.
