TDS: World of Class Warfare - The Poor's Free Ride Is Over

Why isn't USAmerica rioting?
peggedbeasays...

the cost of food isn't high enough yet. historically, people are generally complacent with letting the ruling class do whatever as long as they can afford food and expect a reasonably brighter future. i wonder if part of the reason we subsidize agriculture is to keep food prices artificially low longer to avoid social unrest. and then there's fast food. which consistently remains cheap. my paranoid brain is starting to formulate fast food as social control conspiracies. also, google holodomor. and think about monsanto.

i think we've all given up on the "brighter future" part... and food prices keep fluctuating.. it's coming though, don't worry. the rest of us will join you soon. as soon as we can no longer afford a mcrib. >> ^rottenseed:

Part of the reason fast/unhealthy food remains so cheap in the US is vast portions of it are based on corn derived products.

I think the argument that the standard of living has improved vastly since the IT boom holds some merit, real wages have stagnated/marginally declined but there have been huge improvements in convenience and standard of living. The issue of course is that vast amounts of actual wealth has been generated and this has overwhelmingly accumulated to far end of the upper income class.

I don't think you're that far off. That seems like a reasonable hypothesis. Another thing that comes into play are our affordable "luxuries". Cable TV, microwaves, dishwashers, heating/AC...these things are now things that we risk by protesting/revolting. Why go outside and get shot at when we can watch Cosby reruns for hours on end?>> ^peggedbea:

The public relations industry has made us completely useless and complacent. We don't even believe that in the 60's the PEOPLE rose up and drastic changes were made to foreign policy, to equality, to just progressive agendas in general. Now it's just that druggy decade about music and free love.

Germany seems like a nice place to live.

It's a pity this clip doesn't include the part where he looks at the US on the list of countries ranked by income inequality. Oh well, thank FSM for [Prt Scr] and photoshop:

I still can't get over every one of those Fox guys especially the British guy...just the sound of their voices and their dismissiveness of the poor in this country. It's really disgusting and shocking that there are people who think this way.

It's not hard. Just speak gibberish, and end yelling, "BORK BORK BORK!" and throw some cooking utensils in random directions.

Christ that makes me angry and I'm not american, nor do I live there (I truly hope not to, but may end up there for work). How can these fucking arseholes get away with telling such utter horse shit? How come there are so many retards like QM that blindly defend this horse shit these republicans shovel down their mouths?

The simple fact that people like that are in positions of power and influence in america is utterly terrifying.

Apparently from the wall posts of my conservative friends, I'm supposed to be upset by some junk food, budget cell phone, shitty LCD from Walmart and a barely running car that some of the poor people they know (or have heard of...I'm not exactly confident they actually have seen any poor people) have as testimony to the fact that the poor doesn't need any more assistance. I see...

Cosby? Shit, I'd rather get shot at.

"Let them eat cake!"

What I find disturbing is that the rich and their marketing department are as removed from reality as France's pre-Revolution Aristocracy. They simply do not see that this could erupt and end in them not losing that third villa on the Bahamas that they only ever visited once but maybe even get them close personal experience with the invention of Dr. Guillotin.
