Social Security Numbers were not to be used for Identification; but it is a de facto identification number now. Why? Because of bullshit laws like the one above; and laziness. White people don't want to identify, but you brown people better identify? Fuck you, I don't think you should have to identify your citizenship if you are citizen.

Uh, actually, us white people do. I was stopped at a Border Patrol check point on multiple occasions where I was asked if I was a U.S. citizen. They didn't just wave me through because I'm white.

I'm sure most mainstream Germans though the Nazi movement was just a far right fringe movement too.

When times are tough it's important to find a weak minority to target for all that middle class frustration.

After all, who would expect the government to suddenly vote Hitler emergency executive powers without public consultation?

This is still rainbows and puppies compared to Mexico's laws on illegal aliens. The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?

It's also rainbows and puppies compared to something I saw in a movie. Actually I've seen many, many movies that had much worse consequences. Those people should be thankful they were not living in those movies.

It's sad to see Mexico, "Land of the free and home of the brave", fall to such depths. I still get a little misty when I read the Mexican Declaration of Independence. The line, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed..." is just so darn hopeful.

Oh Mexico... I know it's a tough issue, but where did you go wrong?

Touche, curiosity. Touche.

I just thought people should keep that in mind. However, you're absolutely right that other countries laws should have no bearing on our own. Two wrongs certainly don't make a right and pointing a finger at Mexico to say "but look what they do!" would be a sad, pathetic attempt of justification.

I do understand your point, but sometimes it's hard to keep my inner smart-ass silent.

Although Mexico's actions in that area shouldn't be used as justification, I do think they should be used for gaining perspective. In that regard, I completely agree with you. Many people just don't know how good they have it.
