svar/svara is a sound/light installation that uses the sound of meteor tracking data received in real time by radio telescope, live acoustic flute and other musical frequencies to give rhythm and form to interactive light images. In the title, we use the almost identical Sanskrit words for light and sound, borrowing from the kind of play on words/sound relationships of the ancient tradition of India, referring to ways in which the two kinds of rhythmically flowing, fundamentally creative energies are linked in ways beyond language. We can perceive only those aspects of the universe whose pulsations lie within certain limits of light and sound.
