eric3579says...Anyone know what the name of this system is?
Darkhandsays...That's crazy I thought they would launch them right off a platform on the boat. Never seen it get dropped into the water then take off like that.
surfingytsays...thats pretty cool. i wonder how many college tuitions each one cost.
radxsays...RPK-2 Viyuga launched from an Udaloy II Class Destroyer.>> ^eric3579:

antsays...Missle?
MrFisksays...I would never have thought to launch a missile during sunset.

Well considering the cost of tuition these days, each missile costs approximately .25 tuitions.
brycewi19says...It's like the ship just took a lazy dump.
Then the dump had other plans in mind.
Shakesifysays...I thought this was one of those videos with a misleading title when the missile first plopped into the water.
Glad I stuck around, that's a pretty cool system.
Paybacksays...Makes some sense. Less poisonous gases flooding the ship.

Perhaps you should move to a country where they don't spend very much money on their military... Have fun earning your college degree in Gambia.
Oh and.. Just a heads up, there might be a correlation between a nations wealth (The ability to house institutions with quality education) and their military status.
00Scud00jokingly says...I believe that was an LBMS (Lowest Bidder Missile System). Cheap, but effective in that it sometimes causes the enemy to laugh themselves to death.

TheSluiceGatesays...The not so cool part: People dying at the receiving end.
vootronicsays...If it wasn't for missiles there would be no smart people or Twinkies. Plus I would have to tick the sarcasm box because missiles make it so we can tell when sentences are sarcastic and stuff.
dannym3141says...The sarcasm box is potentially the most useful and necessary tool i have ever used on the internet, but sometimes i forget to click it......
Nebosukesays...It seems like an inefficient system. These missiles must not go very far.
eric3579says...Up to 45km. http://www.qwiki.com/q/RPK-2_Viyuga

TheGenksays...These are actually used to destroy small boats aproaching the ship and as you can see, they missed both times.

So it compares to a UUM-44 SUBROC... a missile developed in 1958, finished in 1963, and never deployed. "A type of submarine-launched rocket deployed by the United States Navy as an anti-submarine weapon." Wow... the Russians are showing off advanced weaponry...
relliksays...What if a whale ate it before it took off?

"Trans-Underwater Rocket Delivery System", obviously.
