Stephen Hawking Loves the Simpsons

The few times he's been on the Simpsons or Futurama, he's played himself. He even has the action figure of his Simpson's likeness.

i now it's probably rude but i wish they'd subtitle hawking. for a non-native english speaker it's very hard to understand him because the pronounciation is all messed up by that computer....

As a non-native english speaker myself I look at it like this: Trying to understand people who don't speak a "clean" english will in the end make it easier for you to understand "anyone" speaking english.

For me personally, Hawking is easy to understand... but than again I have had ample training by Sir Patrick Moore

Does anyone know how his input works at this point? My understanding is that he uses his cheek (which must explain the borgesque device under his eye). What I don't get is why he doesn't use his eyes. He seems to have some control of them, and tracking an eye is relatively easy. Maybe he doesn't have great control over his eyes?

Ooh that gives me an idea: Why doesn't someone take Hawking's voice engine, and autotune it, and create the next big music fad?

Are you being facetious?

I'm being half-facetious. I think it could be interesting to see once. Auto-tune could make even Stephen Hawking seem talented (musically).

I suggest studying. Just grab your run-of-the-mill 90s Apple computer, and use the text-to-speech. Do that for a few months and voila! you're fluent in Stephen Hawking!

lol, well in that case, the 1st thing that came to my mind was Squarepusher's Red Hot Car. Maybe Aphex Twin's Windowlicker (if he was a pimp daddy)...

It would only seem rude. I would like to think that Mr. Hawking would understand immediately, and even encourage people to do so.>> ^conan:
