Great opening to an interesting show. It had beautiful production design, but they never quite got the stories down. It should have been a lot better, but they really lost it in the embarassing second season -- One of the biggest TV nosedives of all time.

Supposedly "Space:1999" was a sequel to the less glossy but more engaging show "UFO", which had a great opening of its own (same guy did the music). Watching both shows today, "UFO" has held up a lot better dramatically.
