SimCity(2013) Announce Trailer

It's been about 10 years since Maxis release a SimCity game. This is their attempt at rebooting their franchise.

This is what I'm hoping for: http://drh.img.digitalriver.com/DRHM/Storefront/Site/eaemea/pb/images/SimCity4/PoliceStation.jpg

What I see in that image is the ability to upgrade and customise buildings to suit the needs. So in this case, the police station can be upgraded to increase it's effectiveness at fighting crime, or being friendly with the community. That sort of ability to upgrade things when you have the money or when the surrounding areas needs it, would be awesome.

"images not representative of actual gameplay"
Too bad.

Remember Dead Island's trailer?

I shouldn't even call it a trailer. These aren't trailers because they don't show anything meaningful. It's just high-budget concept art.

Considering what games like The Settlers 7 and Anno 1404 look like, I would be surprised if they didn't achieve the level of fidelity shown in the video.

What you're not going to get, however, is constant cinematic camera sweeps and location jumps. That would make the game unplayable, obviously.

I upvote for the fact there's a new one, not for the annoying pre-rendered trailer that shows nothing of the actual gameplay Thanks to @Hybrid for showing a bit of what it may end up looking like... at least the procedural stuff they have going on under the hood.

They've only just announced the game, for crying out loud. Why would there be a gameplay trailer this early?

I agree. Sick of this whining about pre-rendering, EA, DLC, etc.

There is a dearth of fun yet deep strategy games on the market. I am absolutely thrilled to hear about this game. I don't care that they told us about the game before they want to show us gameplay footage.

I think the pre-rendered footage is actually valuable to get an insight about the design goals. More so than pre-rendered footage for an FPS type game.
