Sex in Prison

T.J. Parsell talks about the experience of feminisation that occurs in prison. This involves being raped and then irreversibly being placed in a hierarchy, where the victims are at the bottom of the rank. Gay men will almost always be at the bottom of this hierarchy, because they are seen to be lacking in masculinity.

powerful...as in, I am just now understanding the dynamics of survival hierarchy among the developmentally disabled, or as in emotionally unsettling and foreign??
This tiny happy ass would have to find a place quick, either kill, be a crazier fucker than they would want to fuck with, or the best option.....flee justice before it went frikkin' try, ex-patriot-styley......Prison, regardless of my crime, is not an option-

To come up with something like "you're gay, you must enjoy it" is not only sickening, but unforgivably idiotic. Let's be sure to tell the next woman raped that, hey, she's heterosexual, she must have liked it! How depressing.

The last minute or so was thought provoking. Maybe the glorification of the prison fantasy stems from the fact that since those outside the prison system are distanced from the brutal reality of it, being "behind bars" can be viewed as a haven of sexual possibility. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with such roleplay, BUT, if there's a correlation between the apathy from people regarding rape in prison and the popularisation of the prison sexual fantasy, that implies something much scarier.
