Scott Bartlett - OffOn - 1967

This video is really neat - film experimenters had been around for a decade or more, but what Scott Bartlett was doing was a tad different. The machines he was producing on were much different than the colored cells people like Harry Smith had used which give it a more human feel as there is real video going on here. It was perfect timing as LSD became a hit - Scott Bartlett did as well.

This video is also interesting because the sound that is recorded with this is very much ambient/electronica/noise - that would become a huge success later on in Germany and elsewhere in Europe with bands like Faust, Tangerine Dream, Cluster etc.
