A robot captures a man and performs a series of experiments on him in order to determine what makes a human a human. After glimpsing images conjured from the man's dreams the robot is confronted by a force it cannot explain. This film probes ideas of consciousness, artificial intelligence, our own humanity and the blurring line between man and machine in the post-human age.
